Lt w/ cats and loudmouth = Too Loud
I have Kooks 1 3/4 headers w/ there catted y pipe and a loudmouth exhaust (also a TR 230)....very loud overall. Looking to quiet this down and eliminate most if not all of the drone/rasp. I was first looking into a whole new catback,(magnaflow or hooker) but now was thinking about maybe a borla xr1 in the place of the resonater. Will that be enough?
Any feedback or soundclips would be great thanks.

I had the same exhaust setup as you (except with QTP's) and the LM was pretty loud from what people told me, so I swapped out for a bullet, quieted it down a little, but was still pretty loud. IMO I would switch out for the XR1, sounds bad ***! My buddy did it to his 98 Z with Mac's, ORY and it sounds awesome, he had a bullet and was raspy as ****, and now with the XR1, the rasp is about %90 gone. My votes for the XR1

if you want to spend the money, go with corsa. I have heads/cam/long tubes/no cats and it's so quiet inside the car but if you hear the car from outside it sounds like the world is coming to an end. IMO it's the perfect combination, no interior drone at all while still having a kick *** muslecar sound coming out the back. I forget how loud my car is until i have someone rev it up for me. And i have yet to see better exhaust tips.
If you don't want to spend $700+, i'd say to go with magnaflow. my brother's got it on his 01 ws6. It's very quiet unless your at WOT. He still has the stock cats/manifolds but there is a world of difference between the magnaflow and the loudmouth that he had on his 2000 T/A

imo, drop the reso and put in the XR-1. there is asound clip on ls1sounds.com with a guy with headers, ory and a "borlamouth", sounds like a beast!! It gets rid of most of the rasp and makes the tone deeper while dropping the db levels
gonna get my headers, ory soon and i will have my final verdict.........but id anything that is my choice.......i dont the price difference is enough to go with the cheaper alternative.
good luck

Any type of muffler is going to be alot quieter than the resonator the Loudmouth uses. You allready have a set of highflow cats so anything other than the LM will sound great. Choose on sound from here.

LM sounds great on stock manifolds, but with any upgrade it's an overkill.
However since already have it, just get XR1 for ~$100 and weld it in.
I believe you need a 3" IN/OUT XR1 muffler, as LM resonator is also 3" in/out. Welding should cost you additional $60....
This Borla XR1 muffler 3" IN/OUT part# is 40085

I vote for the borla muffler too. I heard a civic with a borla muffler instead of the usual fart cannon. Sounded pretty good for a 4banger. Borlas seem to have a refined tone. Theyre kinda loud but they sound good.
