i had trouble getting the pump housing bolts to break loose (on the inside of the bellhousing).- after the fact i realized that i didn't need to take the pump out anyway...

if you can get them off, then i don't see why you couldn't replace the pump if you had a service manual. although- im not sure if it is connected to anything integral and you would have to take the whole trans apart.

i say call up a local trans guy and ask how hard it is- maybe try a few different guys since they may lie and say it is difficult and let them do it for alot of $.

good luck.

A pump only is a few hundred dollars at a tranny shop; a bit more if you put a new one in. while it's apart you might about whether you want new clutch packs and bands.

the same thing happened to me, and instead of fixing that trans, i found a built trans for about the same price! so i really lucked out, but i would say you might want to look around at the for sale section. good luck though

Did you see my reply about this on your other post about this?
No offense but if you cannot install a converter don't mess with the pump, have someone else do it.
So what broke in the pump?
You could probably take the pump apart and replace the rotor, vanes and rings. Or have someone else replace that stuff.

There is a pump available that has more vanes, you might want to look into it.... www.4l60-e.com

You can also measure to the mounting flanges on the converter to see if it is in the trans all the way. Lay a straightedge across the trans bellhousing on the face that meets the engine, then measure down to where the converter will contact the flexplate.....it should be 1 1/8".

Good luck with everything and you aren't the only one to tear up a pump that way
