Default What should the stock Auto or M6 idle speeds be?

I am new to F-Bodys. I test drove a 2002 A4 Firebird and it seemed to idle at 500 RPM which seemed low and the idle was rough. I wound up buying an 2001 SS M6 and the idle is 750 RPM. Are these normal idle speeds?

stock idle for a M6 is set for 800 or so.

although on all of the 1998 cars i have tuned, the stock tach reads about 1000-1100 when the motor is at 800.

My M6 reads like 1000 or just slightly above or below. I think all of the tachs are pretty inaccurate.

Why would the M6 have to be higher than the automatic. This is my first V8 powered manual shift car. All my experience has been with autos.

Multiple Choice:

A) An auto idles lower because it imparts a greater load on the crank.

B) A M6 is better.

My stock 98 file showed an 800 rpm idle but the tach shows 1000. Not only is the tach off its also slow in relation to revs in first gear. It sucks!

My stock idle was 800 and my tach read 800. I adjusted it to 875 with the cam to help it idle better.

I have reviewed an insane number of BIN files for M6 (and A4s, but I pay less attention to them). I have never seen a stock bin with a warm engine idle value other than 800 rpms. And the stock tach sucks. From what I have been seeing on here, most of them read about 200 rpms too high.
