3 months....
My car was down and out for 3 months for rear end repairs.
During that time, I drove around in an old car that my parents have kept around for sentimental reasons (I'm long moved out of the folk's house, but I still live across town), a 1987 Volvo 240 GL, which needed coolant refills for every 20 minutes of run time (just enough to get me to work and take a large jug of 50/50 with me to top it off ).
Now, I just moved (about 3 months ago) to a rather upscale area of Miami (used to live in the 'burbs), and one comes across plenty of interesting cars. I've lined up at stoplights (yes, LINED UP AT STOPLIGHTS!!!) with several Lamborghini Murcielagos, Porsche 911 Twin Turbos, Ferraris and Vipers- ALL IN THE '87 VOLVO, LEAKING COOLANT!!!
Now, I've had the SS back up and running for 1 week, and as it usually happens, it's been raining constantly (after a 3 month cool/dry season- so much for hitting low/mid 11's at the track with my new suspension and mod setup) and I have come across the most BORING cars- not a single exotic or at least a decently quick car on the road!!!
Oh well.
Hope to be writing kill stories once again...

that always the way it goes. everytime we are in my g/f's crappy 94 cutlass, or borrowing her mom's minivan,we see all kinds of raceable cars. when I finally get back and bring out my Z28, there is no one to bee found. it's weird the way it happens. in the cutlass I'll see like 100 ricers a night, in my Z like 2.
oh well. Less wear on the tires.

Try driving your hot rod through the snow all winter. The roads finally clear and it's sunny out, but you can't even tap the throttle because it's 10 degrees out, you have street tires on, and you'll spin out. Talk about frustrating.

I always seem to come across people wanting to race and cars worthy of racing when I've got a passanger who has NO interest in being part of a race. Some of them, I know enough not even to ask anymore.
