Hemi Owns You!!!!
okay let me first start out by saying how great i think chevy trucks are, and i would have bought one except when my trans went out i needed a daily driver quick and dad just happened to start a job working at a dodge dealer.. so i got my stripped down, baseline 1500 ram for 16k financed on a 19yo's credit.. brand new 04 year mind you.. well i just changed the oil for the first time yesterday and i must say the first 3k have been great, i drive it 6 days a week. realy keeps miles of the car. im supposed to run 89-90 octane in this motor but i often scrimp and run 87 octane like i was tonight.. there is actually a difference b/t 87 and 93, much like the ls1, the hemi dont much care for it.
so to the opposing chevy truck
enter redneck guy in 04 1500 silverado... 2wd stick shift.. kinda the chevy version of my dodge.. my dodge is light for a dodge, but the chevy was lower, and shorter.. and most definetly looked lighter..
he had exhuast done, sounded to be uncatted with headers, twas loud... he messed with me on the highway for 3 miles.. mind u my truck isn't really broke in and is bone, bone STOCK! infact its the cheapest stockest prolly slowest version u could buy with a hemi.
BUT THE LIL HEMI STILL RAPED HIM NUMEROUS TIMES FROM 45, 55, 65, 75, and 80mph starting points.. each race ended about 95-100 mph.. i think the truck is governed at 105 or some ****. and when i mean raped... i mean like my 150 shot ls1 vs a stock gt mustang kinda rape.. i let him jump everytime and it was like he wasn't even moving once i hit the gas..

hmm... i dunno much about truck motors' but the guy said he had it optioned to race it.. he said he had the higher hp and tq motor for the 04 1500, so whatever the hell that is, honestly, he talked so redneck i couldn't really understand half he said. im guessing it had the better gear as well to complement the motor, like 3.90 or whatever they come with.. i know my dads tahoe has 3.73's actually i think so it may have been that
with the hemi u can eitehr get 20 inch wheels and taller tires with the 3.90, but i gots a 3.55 since it has the cheap 17 inch rims on it..
oh and he accused me of spraying nitrous... i told him, nope thats my other car!

he also said he got one of the new ford f-150s by almost a truck length from a roll, and he said lightings pull him by maybe 2-3 lengths if there stock, then he said something i culdn't understand but i think he was going to add something to help fix that lol.. now i just need a run with a stock lighting, i know i will lose, i dont have a blower, and i weigh a good bit more im sure, and that isn't what the turck is made to do.. ive seen lightings go 8.8-9.2 in bone stock form.. ive seen a 04 hemi extended cab with catback go 9.47... i imagine with a 4.11 gear, intake, and exhuast i could dip into the 8.99 range, then put a zex 100 shot on it lol

Try catching a race with a single cab 5.3 and see what happens.

when he was next to me setting at 55mph i was at 1500rpms, he was at something like 4k lol, then again, it was prolly an auto, and he had manually pulled it down in 2nd or what not.. i sometimes do this with my camaro, how ever it is pointless if u ask me.. it was no 6 banger.. didn't know chevy made a 04 silverado with a 6banger.. i believe he had the 5.3 now that i think about it.. as far as a stock hemi losing to a stock chevy, i dont think its all to possible.. i seriously think the hemi could be made to eat mustang gt's all day long..
but there are always haters, no reason to get all defensive.. the hemi guys on the hemi board said some pretty bad stuff about chevy's as well lol.
remember boys, i race my ls1 first and foremost!
and yes you could order a stick with the 5.3 if u ordered it that way.... or so my uncle told me so, he manages the local chevy dealership.. he could be wrong tho..

so waht if the hemi motor makes more power... which i think it does.. its a 360 is it not, vs the 5.3 liter is smaller anyways... i didnt get the truck to race it, i got it for that 7 year 70k warranty, and the stock driving comfort my camaro lost shortly after i got it.. plus im 6'4 so the ram has plenty of room over the camaro.

Plus it seems like for a lot of them it is their first truck so they have this derranged brand loyatly thing going on so they think Dodge can never be beat on any terms.. LOL Tell that to a Titan or a 5.3L RCSB Chevy.
My only problem with the story is that you say you pulled on him like you had a 150shot of nitrous. That doesn't sound right. In stock form you should pull no better than a 91mph trap speed if you are a super lightweight Dodge (IE not QuadCab). A RCSB Chevy with a 5.3L should pull 89-92mph traps stock. My 4.8L RCSB with 97k miles and ZERO mods trapped 88.9mph last weekend. To effectively get pass like my opponent was on a 150shot they would have to have at least 6-10mph on me and no way in hell can a stock Hemi truck pull high 90 traps. Not doubting your story, just feel that something isn't adding up with the other guys setup or he was banging it off the rev limiter while you were pullin him. LOL
Good kill no matter the details.....

i exgerrated a tad with the n2o comment.. but hell i mean in a matter of 2-3 seconds i had him by a truck from 45 and 55... i just wasn't expecting that.. and yes this is my first truck, but c'mon.. lol, its a damn truck imo, i got the car for racing so i could really care less what it does and have no reason to lie.. and no, with a 75 shot and a 4.10 gear with my shorter tires, then maybe ill consider running a ford lighting....... imo, those are bad... but if u want to go really bad for 50k, get a srt10 viper truck.. imo, that is the own all of trucks in "STOCK FORM''... i drove that and a viper, and if i had the money, would have bought the truck.. it wasn't as fast, but it felt good for some reason.
