Flexplate nicks back of engine at start up????
It's wierd because whenever I start up the car cold, the flexplate nikcs the back of the engine then goes away after its warm. Is there a spacer to put behind the flexplate to move it away from the motor? What can I do?
Ike
BTW, I have a TH-400 and it has done it for a while, just wanting to fix it b/c it is now getting on my nerves.

are you sure it's not the converter bolt heads hitting the rear cover bolts?
I had to grind my bolt heads down a little to clear the rear cover bolts.

But why would it only hit when its cold?
I assume you already checked to make sure the converter bolts are tight.

Two thaughts i have are:
(1) Too much crank end play (thrust bearing worn out) this used to be a stick car right?
(2) Flex plate warped (and wobbles more whn.under the extra stress of the fluids having a thicker viscosity whn cold
My .02, let us know
