Question SLP Fan Switch or 160 thermostat???

I live in texas and its realy hot, so my car is running nearly 200 degrees and I was wondering which would be a better choich out of the SLP fan switch or the 160 degree thermostat to make it run cooler, and which one would make the biggest difference in temperature drop?

Stock fans do not turn on until 226 degrees or so, so a 160 stat won't help without the fans being on. So I would reccomend tuning, or a fan switch to get the fans on sooner, even with a stock 195 t-stat the car will run cooler if your turn the fans on sooner.

Would it be a good idea to get the 160 t stat and the fan switch both?

I would say both. If you can only afford one, get the fan switch, because you can reduce the factory temps by about 20 degrees. The stock temps are a little rediculous.

I would recommend both. I have the Hypertech 160* thermostat and the SLP fan switches.

I ran a 160 and fan switch before I had something to change my fan temps, now I rarely use the switch. The 160 alone will help on the highway but not so much in traffic on hot days - got to get the fans on earlier. Remember, unless you have a '98 the gauge will still read about the same.

I'd just do the fan switch and leave the stock thermostat in there. LS1s are designed to run at much higher temps than most cars so I wouldn't let it get to you too much.

Get the fan switch from SLP plus the 160 thermostat. Also have the fan reprogrammed to turn on at a much lower temp.

I have a 160* thermostat and want to turn the fans on earlier. Which would be easier and cheaper getting and installing the fan switch or just get it tuned to turn the fans on earlier?

Im running the 160 t-stat with hypertech turning the fans on early,184 I think, but the temp gauge looks like stock reading. mine is a 99. most of these cars have this gauge problem?
