People running ford 8.8s inside please
Been pricing some 12 bolts lately and converting a ford 8.8 seems to become more appealing by the day.
So for you guys that are running these in your fbody, what do you think? Would you recommend it or should people stick with a 12bolt/9''?
It seems easy in theory. Get an 8.8 rear, cut the axle tubes about 6'' from the pumpkin, then weld on the axles tubes from your 10bolt cut to the correct length, retaining your spring perches and LCA brackets. Once you have a tq arm mount fabbed you would be good to go, for alot less than $2000 if you were a thrifty shopper.
It seems like the tq arm mounts ive seen people running look like they could be iffy, any feedback on these? Not sure how much pressure these things have on them in a 10 second car.
All input is welcome, but please dont drag extreme chassis into this.
Really wanna hear what people who actually run them have to say about them.

What kind of times and 60's were you running when the TQ Arm mount broke, was it an auto or manual?
No trouble with it since you beefed it up? Looks good in those pics.

i thik i was cutting mid to low 1.6's It was an M6. haven't had any problems since. i took it out a month ago and noticed some of the welds are cracked. (welding steel to cast is a NO NO) but i'm not going to f with it antil it breaks again. And besides i went auto now so the shock on the rear won't be as much.

Budget 9'', lets see:
Housing, Axles, Bearings - $985

Ring and pinion - $150
Center - $300
Total - $1835
Feel free to correct me if you can get things cheaper, but for that kind of cash i would rather just spend a little more and get a Strange 12 bolt, setup exactly how i want it, and retain my ABS.
