Default SS '98 vs SS '01

A friend of mine has a 98 SS the only mods he has is exhuast and removed his cats. Still has stock exhuaust maifold and intake manifold. No other changes. I have a 2001 with just the mods that are in my sig. Who should win this race because I got a $100 on my car

You really need to specify the kind of exhaust he has done. Exhaust could be anything from just gutting the cats to a full blown headers back system. You have the advantage of the LS6 intake and a cat-back yourself, but if he has headers, watch out.

FWIW, I ran my '02 SS with only a Diablo tune against a '98 SS that had a lid. I pulled him about 2 cars up to 100.

He does not know what type of muffler he has. No the cats are not gutted there gone replaced with a pipe instead, 3 inch i guess.

So he has stock manifolds, ORP, and a muffler of some sort, and nothing else? You should be able to take him, provided you are of equal driving skill.

i think you should take him. you said hes all stock except for a muffler and no cats. in your sig your running a lid, and gmmg catback and you have the ls6 so i think you would win.

The 01' heads flow better than the 98's.

There's really no way to tell who's going to win...They're LS1's I could see how u have the advantage being the LS6 Manifold, but it also depend from a roll or dig, which one can row the gears, weather conditions, who has more tread, who gets the jump, and the road your racing on..

I think it's going to be a really tight race and if anyones going to win (assuming u both row each gear) it will be by 1/2 car or so. Nthing worth throwing $100 on your car just cause it's newer..

If you have the same trans and gearing, you should win.

what do you guys mean by "it's a drivers race"? We both have a4's and where just racing in a straight line? Are you guys talking about launching?

You should win but I think the race will go to whomever get out ahead off the line. Good luck and post results.
