Default Have TEA 5.3L heads-what FMS cam to run?

I got a F13 cam during Futral's sale not long ago, and recently decided to go ahead and buy some heads. I am getting TEA stage 1.5 5.3L heads. Would you guys recommend upgrading the cam to the F14 or F15? I know guys have had good luck with the F13 and these heads, but I can't find to many with an F14 or F15 with these heads. Gomer has the F15, but he has slightly better heads. Any opinions?

IMO, put that (F13) cam in. If you want more out of it in the future, invest in a 90/90 intake.

Thanks for the opinion SouthFL. I see your sig has changed, you must miss that car a little (I know I would). I understand why you let it go though.

Does anyone know what the p/v clearances are like with the TEA 5.3 heads and the F13 cam? How far could you mill them and still be safe?

Off topic, but I will help you out. I talked to Futral about this, they recommended a MAX mill of .010" Now, there are some guys on here that have milled more and it works. I ordered my heads with a flat mill (ie 0 mill), but I am going with cometic .045 gaskets. Futral recommended a P/V clearance of 0.100 on intake and exhaust, but they said you could go down to 0.080 on the exhaust. PM me if you want more details.

Our latest 1.5 has about .015 more piston to valve clearence than our last 1.5 head.
However when going with a large cam PtoV must always be checked.

I doubt there is 5 hp between the two cams so I would just run what you have.

Thanks Brent, I was going to call you later and ask that question and how things were going. Looking forward to seeing what those heads do

I really like the way my heavy *** car pulls with the fm13 with the mildly ported heads I have do. I would like to try the TEA heads or the AFR heads on my car next.

I have a F11 and love it but if I did it again I would go with a f13 112+4
