Cam question? What is your advice
I know this has been beat to death on here, and yes I try the search function, but did not find what I am looking for.
I am going to put a cam in my 01 SS M6, car. I want a cam that will give me the most power gains with a stock head/stock cube motor, I will drive the car quite a bit but it does not need to be my daily driver (I can put up with a lumpy idle and a car that shakes, even on a daily basis though). I don't want to have notch the pistons or anything. I will be going with a different rear end when my 10 bolt blows up and will get whatever gear matchs my cam best. Tuning is not an issue as I have access to a chassis dyno and sombody to help with the tune. So let me know what you guys think, spring suggestions are also appreicated.
Thanks

do you mean...
most PEAK HP gains or area under the curve? Some of the "smaller" cams (ie--220/220) make good power under the curve/throughout the rpm range. Other bigger cams (ie-TRex Cam - I think it's 231/237 or so) make serious power but higher up in the rpm range. Basically anything 230 & above will need gears (not a MUST, but very useful in restoring power down low). I was recently looking @ Futral Motorsports' (futralmotorsports.com) F10 & F11 cams (228/228 & 228/230), but as I won't be doing gears soon, I thought something w/ better power throughout the rpm range w/ less stress on valve springs (ie--lower lift) was the way to go...you have a lot of options here...do you have headers/exhaust & supporting mods?

Biggest cam you can fit in a stock cubed motor with ZERO headwork is the TRex cam. 242/248 .608/.612 on a 110 lsa. Will make excellent power in the upper RPM range, but lacks down low, so that "hinders" driving from some people's point of view.

I do have supporting mods, and will be doing gears as soon as the 10 blows up. I am looking for the most peak hp as my goal is to as fast at the track as I can with stock cubes and stock heads. Thanks for the replys

I don't see how searching didn't answer your question. You want the most peak power to be as fast as possible at the track and aren't concerened with drivability. You want something like the Trex or G5X4.

Welll sorrryyy, man why get up tight. I searched and did not find what I wanted, so I asked a question, people answered me and thats that. Don't respond or read the thread if you are going to be a dick.

j/k, I come off rough a lot.
I did answer your question though.
Edit: BTW, if you get a Trex or G5X4 make sure you get the tune NAILED for street driving. And you will want gears. You might want to go a little smaller. I drive the MS3 daily in an auto with 3500 stall and 3.23's and it's perfectly fine. (I am upgrading to 4000 stall right now, and 3.73's later)

I'd suggest the Futral Motorsports F-14 or F-15. I'm making 412 rwhp right now through the Vette IRS and lacking a few bolt-ons on the F-15 112 +2
IMO, I don't know if you'll like the T-Rex or anything bigger than the F-15. I'm a "big cam" kinda guy and the F-15 is about the max I'd go on the stock cubes (236/239 @ .050") Anything bigger is going to severely hurt your low end. If you decide to go with the F-15 or bigger, I'd STRONGLY suggest you go with a 4.30 gear.
