choosing small cam
OK another "help me choose a cam" -
Want to get a small cam, for mainly low end, stock heads/manifold, no lope, stock idle, no sewing machine, long spring life, no emissions problems, will tune. My short list:
Lunati 212/221 116 LSA .510/.510
Crane 210/218 114 LSA .531
Comp 212/218 114 LSA .522/.529
All pretty close - any real difference between these 3? Anyone running one of these?

Comp makes a LS6 replacement on a 115LSa or the Lingenfelter GT2-3 would be muy choice.I went w/a Comp XE-HL lobe and the specs were for manifolds 214-222 559-566 115+4 and should idle like stock make decent low end and pull hard to my 6200 shiftpoint,rev limter set at 6500.....

This may be more than you want, but it will make more power than the ones you listed and still idle well.

The added lift of 1.85 rocker arms woke up the top end of the 206/212 .515/.522 112lsa cam without hardly affecting the lowend. Go for more lift in your cam choices or get higher ration rocker arms to compliment your selected cams.

The "CheaTR" Camshaft - 214/230 .601/.578 may have too much lift, he doesn't want to change the springs much.
The cam I have is awesome..CC 218/224 527/534 114 is a great low end cam, it idles like stock (very slight lope), it has pretty good low end torque, and has power all the way to 6500...it will pass emissions with no problem.
LS1Speed.com used to carry it, but seems like a lot of sponsors are not carrying this cam much anymore...Thunder Racing still has it though.
The others you have listed are good too, but you may want to go a little bigger.
I have CC 918 springs with mine & have a very slight "sewing machine" sound.
The cam I have is awesome..CC 218/224 527/534 114 is a great low end cam, it idles like stock (very slight lope), it has pretty good low end torque, and has power all the way to 6500...it will pass emissions with no problem.

i know guys like the 212/218 for their trucks so i would lean on that one.. im putting a 210/218 in my truck cause i want stock idle, good spring life, and no major tuning

Any of those cams sounds good for your stock heads. Don't bother with a high lift cam as you won't gain much from the extra lift since there is not enough flow area through the stock valve to take advantage of the high lift.

Maybe you would consider the MTI Stealth Cam 1 220/220 .581/.581 115 LSA. I think that would be perfect for what you are looking for. I'm looking at that cam and a Futural F2 camshaft. According to MTI website , this cam make great power across the board and it have a stock idle. Hope this helps.

It's an easy way to get suckered into buying the wrong cam.
