header are easly done at home if .

1. you are not easly frustraited
2. you have a pretty good basic tool set.
3. you have a good jack
4. you have some 6X6 wood laying around...

headers are best installed from the bottom, do a search you will find insall instructions also check out the install sites, you might find a whole write up there

and if you do not need emmisions stuff then skip the mid legths and get longtubes.

Just remember to have everything you need before you start. I was gonna reuse the old gaskets, but got new ones instead, which took a day to get. I'm still not done with mine after a week, because the place I ordered from shipped me an LT1 y-pipe instead of an LS1 y-pipe. And most of all have some patience, something I was short on while I was working on mine.

Poly motor mounts go in much easier when the exhaust is off.. do it when you do your header install. And you will want to have 10mm (and 11mm if you use stage 8 header bolts) gear wrenches. I like the flex heads.

Do you guys think it would be safe to use cinder blocks in place of the 6x6's?
I just got a quote for 500$ to put the headers in and they wouldn't even want me in the garage while they did it. I don't want to just hand off my car to have everything done for me if I can at least try it on my own.

I think I can get my QTPs' on if I can get the car in the air.
