Did you seal the front of the air box? If you don't use the seal for the front of the air box do you lose air pressure in the box, or does it pick more from air coming in the front, too?

i dunno if i was a ws6 car id think about leavning it open but for a non ws6 id close it off ..personlly i removed the part one i got my ws6 hood it was blocking too much air from my radiator, mabye people in other climates have had better luck but down here its just too dam hot to be making your radiator work harder

I left mine unsealed. I just figure the more air the better. I didnt feel any difference with it sealed and unsealed.

Sealed. I agree that it would kind of defeat the purpose if it was left un-sealed although I doubt it would matter all that much.

I experimented both ways and couldnt tell a difference really.

The instructions say to not seal it on SS ans WS6 cars.. right now it's not sealed..

If you have a WS6, the BGR system would work better.

I left mine unsealed on the SS. There is no significant
pressurization from the SLP CAI ot the SS hood, it's
all very low pressure.

The air from the SLP CAI is hotter than the air from
the hood ducting, according to the IAT readings. By
a lot, if you're sitting. And it takes a long time to
cool off that stainless heat sponge.

-Maybe- on a Z/28 you would want to seal the box,
I have no good idea how the inlet airflow gets to the
air slot on the standard hood cars. It might still be
cooler air than the CAI duct's.

Ram air is a hoax in this context. If you were getting
meaningful pressurization against the front of the radiator,
even 1PSI, that would be something like 400lb of nose
drag (1PSI*24"*15" radiator face) and you'd notice that,
trust me. If the CAI is pressurized so is the radiator. It
ain't; only the claims are inflated.

All you are looking to do is reduce restrictions (air slot
is not much of one, IMO, on stockish plumbing, but mo
betta for air filter inlet cross section and eliminating the
"ramp" in the airbox is a bonus) and lower air temps
(here, caveat emptor, my results say it makes things
worse on an already-cold-air car).

I installed mine per the instructions. I guess that means it is sealed. It works fine.
