Default C5 vs. 04STi

Well I finally ran another C5 this past weekend. I figured you guys would be interested. Well here's the setting. I was driving back from picking up ties for my wedding. It was like 8pm and the sun was just just far enough down where you needed lights, but still bright enouch to see the road. Well on a two lane highway, I see a pair of low head lights. At first I was un aware of what it was until I see the amber parking lights. At this point I was excited to see a white vette. I let it pass me, to see who was driving and if they were willing to play. To my suprise it was a cute looking 20 something female. She definatly was up for running me, since she gas the V8 some gas and flew up to the light. It had just gone red, so I pull along the side of her and await the green. I peered around to make sure there were no cops in sight! I was eager, but kept my cool waiting to see if she was going to gun it out of the whole or what. Neither of us reved, so I was awaiting her move. The light wnet green and we start off at a clip but nothind crazy. Then she mashed it, so I stand on it. She took off and had maybe a 3/4 car length on me until my boost kicked in. Well when I shifted 2nd I was dead even, then 3rd and I just walked away. All said and done I was pleased. A qucik run, but satisfying(sp).

You walked away from her in a heavier car with less power? You sure she way trying man? But then again, females are not the best drivers in the world, so it could be it.

LOL...I raced an Sti with his DP, turboback, bov, cai, CM clutch, and tuning...not to mention every guage in his car, 5 point harness seat belts, and little decals everywhere....

Everyone was saying how it was going to blow my doors off...so when we ran he pulled me out of the whole..as soon as i grabbed i put 1 1/2 cars by end of 4th...

wasn't impressed...sorry..

nice kill tho

I spend a lot of time at the track, and i've only seen an sti in the 13's once. I've never seen a vette not run in the 13's (c5 that is) I've seen like 4 or 5 different ones run. And that's only because of the AWD launch. They certainly don't have the pull up top. Not only weight, aerodynamics, but the AWD slows them down up top. I'm callin' bullshit on this one. Unless she wasn't going.

I have seen 8 or 9 STI's at the track and they haven't impressed me either. One had a lot of stickers and a lot of mods, the driver claimed 340 horse and he ran a 14.1 and a 13.9. I am in no way bashing these cars as I happen to love the way they look, but I tend to think they are over-rated. The fastest STI I have seen personally ran a 13.3. I know there are faster ones out there, but cars tend to run pretty fast out here in Seattle and like I said, I haven't seen one yet that ran like I thought it would. The same holds true for the Evo 8's. They don't impress me either. Most of the ones I have seen ran low 14's. However, there was one running 11.8's and THAT was impressive. Badass car that would have handed almost any other car out there that night their ***. The best part was he kept running mid-low 14's, then ripped off that 11 second pass. Needless to say, I was among the crowd whose jaws dropped to their toes.

good kill. I got peddled on the highway by an EVO a few months ago, def. not stock. Your car seems pretty sweet.. 282 WHP on a AWD car has to be at least 370 Crank HP right?
Figuring around 25% drivetrain loss anyways.

Nice kill man . I've always wanted to race an Evo or an STI. I've seen some real fast ones on the internet, but every time I see one at the drag strip in person, its in the low 14's to high 13's. I hear they pull pretty hard on the roll though, but I've never raced one or drove one so I really don't know.

Sounds more like she thought you were a freak checking her out and wanted to get away. Are you a freak?

i believe it. my buddy has an 05 wrx, w/ just tunning and an uppipe/downpipe swap, it went from 14.40's bone stock to 13.20's w/ a girl riding passenger! and i have video of my buddy racing a stock auto c5 and pulling him by at least 2 cars. not to mention this is in a "wrx" not the "STi"

If this is really just a wrx and not a sti his transmission is going bye bye. The wrx 5mt holds 300whp, but not for very long. With tuning and mods (say all Cobb Stage 2 which is 285 whp) a wrx will run at best 13.4. That is with more mods than your friends wrx because Cobb stage 2 is a full turbo back exhaust. So if your friend is really running 13.2 he has 300+ whp, for about 5 runs before he has no transmission.

I'm pretty sure she was trying guys. I hate to say it, but I have beat a couple C5's and one C6. I'm not saying I left her crying like a V6 or anything. I'm just saying from like 10mph to around 75 I had her by at least 2 cars. I'm also sure I'm not one of those 14 second people you see at the track. I'm heading to NED in a few weeks after that I'll put up some times.

SSpeedrace- No I am not a freak so either way she lost, even if she was trying to get away!
