Default Best "Bang for the buck" heads for my setup

Ok I am looking for an inexpensive set of heads that will give me the best gains. My current setup is 6.0L LQ4 shortblock, LS6 Intake, 236/243 612/622 @ 112 Futral Cam, Patriot dual valve springs. Heads are currently 5.7 853 castings milled .060 to bring me to about 11.1:1 compression [This was done to compensate for the dish in the LQ4 pistons.] The car is an A4 with a VIG 3600 Stall and 3.42 gear. The current dyno numbers are 384.9 RWHP and 380 TQ, I know the heads are holding it back, but dont want to spend a mint on a set of heads, any ideas anyone????

One set of heads I was looking at is the Partiot Stage III 6.0L heads [Summit part #PAR-2019 Cylinder Head, Stage III, Aluminum, Assembled, 72cc Chamber, 225cc Intake Runner, Chevy, 5.7L, LQ9, Pair ] But I know I would need to get them milled to up the compression, but how much?

If you are going to look at the patriots i think they also offer the LS6 style (6.0) heads in a welded 59cc chamber.

There's alot of options you could go with.

You could have your set cnc ported & setup with big valves to save $$. You could also go with a 5.3l style head with the chambers opened up to match your bore. The PRC heads now sell for $1450 & come completely hand finished & flow tested to make sure you get a perfect cylinder head. We also offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on the heads. With the current time spent on the heads we can only ship one set of PRC heads a day, but I feel it's better to ship one set of good heads then 3-4 sets of bad heads that may have issues or not flow properly.

*EDIT* Not trying to turn this into the age old debate, but since you asked I'll throw in my opinion....

Don't forget to talk to Brian/Brent at TEA

May not be the "cheapest", but for(in your words)the "best bang for the buck" TEA gets my vote everytime.

*Sidenote:
#'s in sig are made w/a "baby" cam, 90/90, and TEA S1.5, 5.3's

Rant OFF-

I have heard quite a few good things about the PRC's... keeping them in mind.

How did you come up with that number without knowing how far his pistons are in/out of the hole, AFAIK there is no way of determining quench without knowing this. (?)

Doesn't quench= head gasket thickness + or - piston height relative to deck surface?

Also, a GM Graphite gasket is ~.054, and GM MLS is ~.060 compressed.

Also, to answer the original question, I would call TEA, Brian's customer service is second to none, and he will make 1000000% sure that you are not unhappy with his product, and TEA has a long history of heads producing/flowing like they are supposed to, without QC and performance issues other companies have had. Call them, you will not regret it.

Good luck, Shawn

Part number? GM MLS #12498544 (the only GM MLS gasket that *I* have ever seen/heard of) is ~.060 compressed thickness (which I have actually measured on two seperate occasions and on two different gaskets). Click here.

So, .060 - .005= .055 quench and .060 - .007 = .053 quench.

Neither of the above are anywhere near .045 quench (.008-.010 difference in quench is HUGE if you're trying to maximize your setup enough to where quench matters, IMO).
