Trans Ams have a posi differential stock. If you car can't do it, your carrier is probably fried. There are a number of options in replacing it...

One would be to just replace the stock one... but personally I'd recommend using an Auburn or a Eaton carrier to replace it.

If the rear end is not broken & working poreprly, both tires should spin.

I had that problem with the stock rear end, It means the posi unit is toast. If you have the money I would go with a 12bolt or 9 inch, but if not mybee look into the difrent types of posi's that have already been talked about.

How much would a carrier cost? Where could I get one?

Not necessarily... I tore up the posi in my 12 bolt and looking at the video from that day at the track, both tires were spinning just fine... but the rear end was definitely screwed. It just had trouble unlocking...

But if only one tire is spinning, that is definitely something wrong and needs to be fixed.
