Default Launching a4 with drag radials

So whats the run down on launching? I've heard a bunch of different opinions. Some say to launch in 1st and then put in drive. Some say to leave it in drive. Some say OD?

And what about heating the tires? I just got new BF DR's and supposedly these things dead hook with just a quick spin to clean them off....
And whats the deal with "flashing" is that just a quick pop of the pedal to downshift... I'm just new to this **** and trying to filter through alot of the info.

What kind of converter are you running?

Different converters will require different launchs

Heat the tires up with a decant sized burn out and Foot brake it as high as you can without cutting the tires loose and when it goes green stab it down to the floor. Its pretty hard to cut 2.73's loose with DR's in a pretty much stock car

the mph you have in your sig is about right for that time low 14s is usually 95-100 in an a4, but once i got into the 13s my mph was around 100, and high 12s it was 108

I have no mods, that time was on street tires. I ran once, and those were my times. So really it wouldn't had mattered how many times i ran, my mph would have been the same right?.....I just think maybe my cars a dog, i would think i would be atleast into the high 13's, it was about 50F out. Then again i was carrying my spare and jack, that shouldn't have costed me 3 tenths tho.

this pretty much hit the nail on the head. you will have to experiment, as there is no perfect launch technique, diferent stuff works from different people.

With the stock converter and ET Streets my 60' times got worse. Car hooked and kinda bogged. That's the problem that I see you having with some sticky tires, 2.73s, and stock converter. I would say to foot brake it up as much as you can and hammer it. Get a good TC and you won't have to worry about your 60' times anymore.

If you heat them up for a couple seconds, you will be able to dead hook with the bfg DRs by just slamming it off the line. I would guess you will bog though. I would see what happens with your 60' by getting the tires hot and then just floor it on the third yellow. If you bog and it brings your time down then try the brake stall method and then floor it. If you still bog then brake stall it again but this time just roll into throttle smoothly until your at full throttle. Your not going to have a problem getting those bfg's to hook at the track but you will have to figure out how the car performs the best.

On my last run of the night lastnight i pulled a 13.945@100.5. Stalling wasnt really working for me, so on the last run I slapped it in D and launched off idle. Was plannning on leaving, so after putting my tires back to 30psi I decided to do one more run. So I think theres room for improvment because i couldnt get traction. The only problem I had all night was that I coudnt get my tires to smoke, I would try to burnout but my *** end would just swing sideways and I would start creeping forward. The brakes wouldnt hold. What kind of times will 100.5mph make?
