Default Cam swap in a 02 z06..steering?

Does the steering need to come of if you're just installing a new cam? No oil pump changing, no timing chain changing, no dropping the oil pan, just pulling a cam out and putting a new one in.

thanks

I know it does not on a Camaro? Not sure about a Z06 but I would think not.

Steering doesnt have to come off in a camaro for a head swap either, but it does on a vette.

Ah c'mon! It's all part of the benefit of the "low center of gravity".

Thats why you should consider a 2 piece timing cover after the first swap so you don't have to pull the rack if you swap again.

I really didn't find it that bad. Go buy some vacuum caps and cap the lines when you pull them from the steering box. That way oil won't spill. I only lost about 2 tablespoons. Bungee the steering wheel straight and follow LS1howto. The lines can be gotten off from the top and the side through the fendor well. I though the mess the water pump lines made was the worst part of the whole thing. Good luck, it isn't really that bad.
