Default What not to do with a Turbo

Well we get quite a few turbos here on a daily basis, this one so far was the best of the week. All I can say is, a nice allen wrench was pulled out of the turbine housing

Will sand cause great damage to the turbo, when running with no filter.

A friend of mine had a piece of gasket (the size of a pecil eraser) get into the turbo, it fucked the hell out of the wheel similar to that!

When I opened the thread I was expecting you to have a turbo on a vacuum cleaner or something crazy like that! Haha. But yea that wheel is sure messed up!

Knock on wood I never have a problem like that

the best i have ever seen was a guy i know has a RX7 FC and his hood was rubbing on his maf sensor and was making some noise. so he decided to use an oven mit between the hood and the maf. he wasnt running a filter for whatever reason and the mit came loose. i will let you guys decide where it just happen to go.

It could get dropped into the exhaust manifolds by accident, and forgot about.

Can easily happen, although more so with nuts and bolts. An Allen key is taking it a but further....

If the turbo isnt bolted up, always be careful where any nuts/bolts/washers go when taking things apart around an open turbo manifold

If you are not running an air filter anything can fly in there. Under boost the turbo intake is like a super vacuum.
