SLP LS6 Intake Manifold vs Weiand LS1 aluminum manifold?
Alright guys, ive done plenty of searches and would like to know which one is better and why? I know the weiand is aluminum while the LS6 is composite, so the Weiand can have heat sink, but are they both made exactly the same and is there any HP difference between the two? Also, is the SLP LS6 non-egr intake the same as the GM one? Thanks guys and any/all info and input would be greatly appreciated!

Ok yea thats what I was thinking, the only reason I considered the Weiand was that Tbyrne has them for 315 bucks, which isnt bad but slponline has their non-egr slp ls6 manifold for 98-02 fbodies for 399 and that includes all the plugs, coolant lines,a dn gaskets to directly bolt it on. Thanks for the input and looks like the LS6 is the way to go.

You have -got- to be able to find a "plain old 2001 or 2002
V-8 Camaro intake" at some hillbilly junkyard, for way less
than $399. Not the expensive LS6 Corvette one. Get it?
The aluminum ones have heat mass and will shed it into the
airstream. Dunno how much that -really- matters at high flow
where the gas spends little time sitting around. They sure do
polish up purty and can take a nitrous backfire or three a lot
better than plastic. But they also are more unforgiving as far
as seating & sealing, a lot of trouble with the first ones out
in that department. I'd call it an appearance mod foremost.
If I found one for $100 I might put it on there just because
I don't like plastic engine parts. But if you're looking for go,
keep going.

just about any mod there is a chance for "potential" problems, im sure there are guys on this board with the polished weiand and they love it, as a matter of fact a guy who has a heavy modded ls1 runs the weiand and his is ported polished and he said that makes up the difference in hp vs the plastic because of the heat. he said the aluminum retains more heat than composite so you may get a little more hp with plastic but when you get the aluminum ported polished it makes up the difference, plus they look way better

Yea im sure there are plenty of happy people with the weiand, just wanted some responses and most have been to get the LS6. Haha now my next question, the SLP LS6 NON-EGR manifold, is it the exact same as the LS6 manifolds for the vettes and 01-02 camaros except that SLP just makes them instead?
