Default Dyno Prep?

Hey guys,
I went crazy with winter mods
TSP MS3 cam
NOS Plate system - 150 shot

Its winter time, so the car is in storage. So I would like to put a few miles on the car to make sure the cam is good before I spray, and then have it dyno tuned.

BUT
I also have a 9", shorter DS and SPEC 5 clutch waiting to go on.
(clutch and DS not ordered yet)

My question is, should I dyno tune first, before installing the clutch? Since that will take another 500 miles or so to break it in. I don't know if i'm fond of the idea, of driving around a car with a heavy clutch, with a big cam and a bad tune...just sounds like a b*tch! lol

So, would there be any downside to dyno tuning before the new clutch and rear end? Or positives to it? etc etc etc

I'm just wonderin

thanks guys!

oh, an another reason i'm asking is that i'm on co-op, and then going straight to school over the summer, so the only driving time she will see is on weekends...

If you can, I'd tune before the new clutch, etc, though Id oubt the stocker lasts too long with the nitrous, even on the dyno.

My car had the F14 installed and tuned on the stock clutch, then we put the RAM HD in it. When we pulled the stocker out, it was falling apart, litterally. I think driving the MS3 around with no tune would be a PITA...

i've taken it up and down my road a few times...it wasn't toooo bad, but i did have to watch the tack alot when slowing down

That was my main concern, I didn't know if the stock clutch would slip, even being on a dyno...only 20k miles on my car though, so the clutch is strong

plus the 9" will rob some power, so my stocker rear will give me a couple extra ponies lol

The SPEC STG 5 dose not require a brake in. I would say just make sure it is holding and working good.

You should be OK with your stock clutch if it's not slipping. However, a significant rearend ratio change can affect your tune. Example, going from a 3.5:1 to a 4.1:1 would allow more WOT timing advance because your engine will have less dynamic load and accellerate quicker in each gear. So it's best to fine tune with the gears/tires that you will be running.
