Default Re-dyno'd my afr205 head/cam after milling

Well I finally got everything back together on my 99 vette and tuned...this is what I did:

-replaced the TR224/224 .563/563 114lsa with the "Mamo cam" 224/228 .581/588 114 lsa
-installed the TSP ported ls6 oil pump
-LS2 timing chain
-milled my AFR 205 heads .030
-04 LS6 MAF
-installed Cometic .040 gaskets
-replaced the stock 26lbs injectors with some 28.8's

I used the same Dyno (Carolina Auto Masters) with nearly identical conditions
before#'s
408rwhp/396rwtq
After:
440rwhp/418rwtq
sorry for the poor picture I'll try to fix it later

A few notes and impressions:
-my oil pressure is a steady10-15lbs more than the stock pump
-this doesn’t show on the dyno but off idle and around the cruising rpm's there is a huge gain in power over my old setup.
-idle is exactly the same as the TR224 maybe even a slight bit better?
-After an hour drive I immediately strapped it on the dyno and it pulled 432/405 before tuning. The MAF and injectors gained~4 they were dyno'd and tuned after everything else
-this time I measured the pushrod length and setting up the valve train properly and it is a lot quieter over my previous set-up

Some additional tweaking and tuning will take place over the next few weeks and hopefully I can get back to the track this weekend but I am happy with the way things turned out and only regret not doing this from the very start……

Dude that is awsome. I knew it would go 440 with the injectors. Your tq is out standing aswell. 125mph trap speeds here you come. I bet that was a fun ride home. What did you injector duty cycle end up being? See you saturday.

Slap a FAST LSX90 on that thing for another 15-20rwhp throughout the whole powerband.

Oh, and nice numbers.

Looks like you're following the "recipe". Great numbers. Love the torque! Congrats, those are some outstanding gains.

Throw on the 90/90 and get the injector thing figured out. I think you will be looking at 460rwhp. A TNT 150 shot on top of that and you are well into the 10's on a small cam daily driver. You will have to take me for a ride.

p.s. Did you look at the correction factor today. It was about 10rwhp. So you were rolling around on 450rwhp. Just thought I would throw that in there to make you feel better than you already do.

get a fast 90/90 and you can run some 30s at 95-98% DC or some 42s in the mid to upper 60s range. Me I always put in some 42s for the high HP cars lots of room to grow.... nice numbers for a ls6 intake manifold for sure

Good post, excellent results....

The "devil is in the details" as they say and its back to back testing like this that really enforces that situation. Choosing good parts (the first important step) will yeild good results....addressing all the small details assembling those parts will yeild great results. Most guys are smart enough to select the right parts but it seems fewer take the time to really dial it all in and its a significant difference in reliability and power output.

A FAST 90 on that combo and she will really fly!

Keep us posted and congrats

Very nice improvement !

Where did you get the MAF & Injectors ?

Do the injectors & MAF just pop right in ?

That's very sweet and looks damn worthwhile! I've noticed the AFR 205's shine when milled for 10.8+ SCR and combined with a good quench setup. Your results here prove this. That torque curve is plain wicked and holds it's power very nicely past peak.

Me wants some AFR's!!!!!!!!!!

I got the maf from the dealer and the injectors are used. I could really use some more injector the 28's are just a band aid for now. My 26ers were maxed out (110-111 duty cycle)

That's insane with that size cam, congrats! And that's not even considering you could throw a ported 90/90 on there.

Don't you think you could have gone even a little bigger on the injectors though, or no?

Ya definately could have gone bigger, but like I said earlier the 28.8's were just a band-aid until I get something bigger.

What other supporting mods do you have? (headers, catback, etc.) Are you still running the factory short block? Thanks for posting these numbers. I am really considering doing almost exactly what you have listed. Same compression, heads, taller injectors, etc. If you try any other cams with this set please post up. That's my only questionable spot right now. I would like my power to come on just a little earlier in the rpm range thats all. I don't want to twist my engine quite that hard if I can help it. Great numbers though. Awesome setup.

mods are in my signature. The power comes on pretty early to me? I shift at the track~6600 I dont really consider that high...With my 3:90's and this setup its got power at every RPM!
