Default what tunning is needed for a cam??

what do i have to change tunning wise if i put a cam in an A4 car??
the cam is't too radical, and emmissions is not a problem.

These things are like salt and pepper... what tastes good to you might not be enough, or might be too much, for someone else, but here goes...

-raise the idle
-raise closed throttle timing slightly
-tweak IAC follower table (if stumbling problems)
-raise shift points / rev limiter
-tweak TCC lockup table (if it chuggles at low-RPM lockup)

That's a good start, but "how much" really depends on the cam and the rest of the car's mods. You can get by with less tweaking, for example, if you still have the factory exhaust. Throw on some longtubes, an x-pipe, and dumps, and it's completely different.

thanks guys,

did you do anything for wot timing?

what cam would you recomend that needs no tunning ( except drilling t-body blade) and gives decent gains?

bdawg, are you still having detonation problems?
do you remeber how much lift your cam has? did you try a compression check to make sure you don't have too much compression or atlease tried to use racing gas to see if the detonation goes away?
as for the cam, i'm trying to pick a cam for a friend back home.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but don't bigger cams usually make an LS1 rich at WOT? In other words, don't you usually end up leaning out the PE tables?

damn! you got me stumped!
the cam they told you to get sounds too radical, why not go with something proven like a thunder cam or an mti cam?? that way you don't have to redo your heads.

i was thinking of the hot cam , but i keep hearing its hard to make it idle properly.

What do you do to the IAC table to help stumbling?
