what tunning is needed for a cam??
what do i have to change tunning wise if i put a cam in an A4 car??
the cam is't too radical, and emmissions is not a problem.

These things are like salt and pepper... what tastes good to you might not be enough, or might be too much, for someone else, but here goes...
-raise the idle
-raise closed throttle timing slightly
-tweak IAC follower table (if stumbling problems)
-raise shift points / rev limiter
-tweak TCC lockup table (if it chuggles at low-RPM lockup)
That's a good start, but "how much" really depends on the cam and the rest of the car's mods. You can get by with less tweaking, for example, if you still have the factory exhaust. Throw on some longtubes, an x-pipe, and dumps, and it's completely different.

ditto.
i just helped tune a tr224 a4 car and it took some tweaking but now it seems to be good. still doesnt like hot restarts, but i will figure that out soon enough.

Re: what tunning is needed for a cam??
thanks guys,
did you do anything for wot timing?
what cam would you recomend that needs no tunning ( except drilling t-body blade) and gives decent gains?
bdawg, are you still having detonation problems?
do you remeber how much lift your cam has? did you try a compression check to make sure you don't have too much compression or atlease tried to use racing gas to see if the detonation goes away?
as for the cam, i'm trying to pick a cam for a friend back home.

No MAFT worked for that , IM TALKING ABOUT THE DAMNED 100 RWHP MISSING PROBLEM !! not that im still dwelling on it constantly hour after hour , day after day . i used racing gas the day i dynoed 339 rwhp , the cam has .540" lift 116.5 cl 205/ 212 & 941 springs , & im scared to spend more on it with no results so i havent done anything yet , compression should be 10.8 to 1 wanna help pick a cam ? texas speed says like 236/240 with .609 lift and id have to redo the heads , im ok with that but i wanna know that it will work . 440 rwhp is what im looking for . interested in helping with this ? im super frustrated ? as for your friend how bout one of the hot cam kits ? ive heard like no tuning & nice gains <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

damn! you got me stumped!
the cam they told you to get sounds too radical, why not go with something proven like a thunder cam or an mti cam?? that way you don't have to redo your heads.
i was thinking of the hot cam , but i keep hearing its hard to make it idle properly.
