Default Stock manifolds upside-down?

Has anyone tried to run any set of LS1-type exhaust manifolds dumping forward and up rather than forward and down? I know lots of people seem to run truck manifolds forward and down for custom turbo setups but I don't ever remember seeing anyboy run truck or any other manifolds dumping forwards and up. What accessory problems would I have if I tried this with some truck manifolds?

Thanks, -Dave

Kurt do you have some pictures? I searched and didn't see any of your setup.

Thanks

Sounds like a ethanol vehicle challenge silverado from back in 1999-2000 where they ran it on E-85. Two turbos mounted on manifolds facing forward and upside down.

ya i tried them in a fbody, definatly wont fit with that but (hits the shock towers) if you can fit them in another model id go for it as it would help with room and accesories.
you might have to mount the coil pack another way, but thats the only thing i can think of.

My truck is a little like that car, just smaller pipe and turbo. My coils are mounted pointing up, and my plug wires are routed around the front of the head.

Thanks A LOT for the feedback and pictures. I was starting to get nervous about my setup. I had the engine and trans in the Jag this weekend and I realized I wouldn't be able to dump my exhaust forward and down due to the Jag crossmember and the engine mount pedestals.

Now I have to make sure that I can get that driver's header around the d@mn corvette alternator bracket!

I was also considering the CTS-V manifolds or the corvette C6 LS2 manifolds but it looks like the truck manifolds should do a fine job.

What is that on the pipe? I see it on several cars, but really never knew what it was?

I guess your talking about the flex section of the crossover pipe. Just helps the pipes flex as they expand and retrack from the heat cycling. That can help prevent the hard parts of the system from cracking.

I'm talking about the piece between the radiator and the motor. About 8" long, or so.
