yank ss4000 and slower times?

Default yank ss4000 and slower times?

Went from a vig 2800 to a yank ss4000 and my 60 times went backwards with the 2800 my 60 was around a 1.56 with the 4000 my 60 hasnt been lower than a 1.60 and as bad as a 1.68 tires seem to be hookin good just had a dr. evil trans installed with the vert.The car puts out 400 hp and tq with a 3.73 reargear. any ideas on why this is going on, 1/4 times slowed about a .15 also

well, from what i've read, torque converters tend to eat some hp, and with it being a 4000, it might be sapping a decent amount (don't quote me on that, all depends on efficiency),

as for the 60 ft., is it still hooking as good? you launching any different? wheel spin?

Tried launching at different rpms and it seems to be hooking good. I still think it should be doing better.

Post up your timeslip numbers from the Vig2800 an the SS4000.

What different rpms? Can you be a bit more specific, like either launching at 3000rpms and 3500rpm difference.

Tried flashing the vert and tried stalling it to about 3000 and in between best time came from flashing the vert. times with the 2800 was a 1.56 60ft 11.41 at 119 with the 4000 the best was 1.60 60ft 11.56 at 117 the car has a 382 stroker from speed port and polished heads.weather was about the same[da] runnin hoosier qt pros

Are your internals stock? Do you have a dyno graph? You may just be stalling to a point that is too high for how your curve is, although I dont see how unless you have a different cam or something.

tq converter was decided on after dyno internals stock. not anymore

hmm sounds fishy to me...and just think how many yank owns would be bashing if this was a fuddle..IMO..but if i was you i would take it to the track again and get more seat time with the new combo..and get use to it..

obviously something isn't right if my ss3600 is pulling better times than your 4000 with a lot more power, good luck on your quest it could be a number of things, it really sounds to me like the weather or track prep was different to lose 2mph, that is just too much mph

If the DA was about the same and your setup is the same except for the converter swap then you have to point a finger at the converter. However from your first post it looks like you also put in a new transmission.
I would make a few more passes and see if your times get better.
Going from a 2800 stall to a 4000 stall should keep you in the engine power band much longer. You should go at least .2 quicker in the ¼.

Are you sure about the DA numbers? I know my car will be ~.35 slower in the 1/4 with a DA of 1800 vs a DA of -200 and it will not 60 as well either.

Definetly need more seat time to try different things. trans was also changed not sure dont want to point any fingers yet. Isaid the car feels like its hooking great but could I feel it if it was a slight spin that only costed me a .10 in the 60

My car is incredibly DA sensitive as well. Make sure you're comparing apples to apples. My car picked up several tenths and a couple of MPH when I switched from a PY3400 to a PT4000. And that was in the 1/8th mile. Your stroker motor is obviously making a lot more power everywhere compared to my stocker hence your ability to 1.56 it on a 2800 converter. I went quicker and faster because the PT4000 matches my power curve a lot better than the PY3400 did. Maybe your 4000 converter does not match your power curve better than the 2800 did??? I'd bet the DA had a lot to do with this difference but I just wanted to throw another possible solution out there for evaluation. BTW, why did you go with a SS series and not a PT series converter? Just curious.

Maybe your shift extension went too high and out of your powerband. My brother has had nothing but good experiences with his SS4000, with 3.73s. His car makes about 330 RWHP and he runs 12.4s-12.5s on DRs, at about 108 MPH. Maybe you need some more time, like everyone has said. Don' t give up yet ;D

Your brother has more in the car, I have 20 less rwhp than he does.

A 4000 stall on a stroker wouldnt have been my pick, not unless you are running a big-*** cam 260+ degrees duration at 0.050. You should be making mumbo torque off the line which *should* shred slicks with a 4000 stall.

Post up your dyno charts - one with 2800 and one with 4000 stall.

Havent had the car on the dyno with the 4000 stall from what I can tell is the car is between 350 and 400 hp and tq from 4000 to 6500 rpms with the 2800
