Default Safety requirements for high 11s

Are there any safety requirements you have to do to your car to run high 11s? I already have a helmet, but is anything else needed? Thanks guys.

I think you'll need a cage running 11.99 or faster.

Here in Phoenix, Firebird requires a helmet for a 13.99 or faster LOL. I have not been there yet, but I dont doubt they will enforce it...

They inforce the hemlet rule here very strictly. There is a big fat guy at the end of the pits who walks by drooling, while telling you to put your helmet on.

NHRA requirements - Roll Bar required at 11.49 and faster in a hardtop or T-top, 13.49 in a convertible.

Cage required in 9.99 and faster hardtop/t-top with unaltered floorpans, firewall and frame (Convertible 10.99 and faster).

I believe IHRA is 11.99 and faster hardtop for rollbar.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

13.99 to 11.500
Use these rules in addition to the general rules for full bodied cars only.
Driveshaft loop required if running slicks, and remember the tech can call drag radials slicks at his disgression.
Convertibles running faster than 13.49 must have rollbar and SFI 16.1 restraints
Helmet must be Snell K98, 2000, 2005, SFI 31.1, 31.2, 31.1a, 31.2a, 31.1/2005, 41.1, 41.1a, 41.2, 41.2a, 41.1/2005. SFI 31.x = SA SFI 41.x = M
IHRA also allows Snell 90, for this class only.
If your helmet doesn’t have a clearly marked designation from this list, don’t be pissed if you get turned away.
NHRA only. All non-OEM supercharged, non-OEM turbocharged, and nitrous cars need SFI 3.2a/1 fire jacket. (Should have put this in the general rules too as this is for any ET slower than 10.00.)

I would like to be that fast one day but i dont see putting a full cage in the car also. I could deal with a 6 point but not a full.

So do they let you run down the track or not. I know the track here wouldnt. Pretty strict when it comes to safety rules. I remember the first time i ran a 13.9. I had a helmet but i wasnt wearing on it (hadnt hit 13s all summer and it was like 90 degrees outside). I got stopped by like 3 different race track employees to tell me that i needed to have my helmet on before i could even park my car.

Saftey is for you, its not the track being ********. I would much rather have a strict track and know that if something were to happen I would be protected the best I could be.

If you are not willing to cage a car that is capable of running 9's, but you daily drive it...... I think I'd have to question your sanity.

Kinda like the saying:

"If you wanna play, you gotta pay." DD a 9 second car might weed out a few people, but I've seen enough wrecks to not question the validity of safety equipment.

Villain, speed density and JL-WS6 have hit the nail on the head with this one.

The rule's aren't there to make it a PITA for you to race your car they are there to keep things safe....

Exactly. Personally, I'm trying to decide if I am gonna stop with my car before it gets to 9's or not...... I haven't done the cage yet, and I know with the 402 that's in the works the car's gonna be in the 10's before I even pull any weight out.... so over the winter, some type of cage/roll bar is going in, just not sure what yet.
