Default Aftercooler OR FMIC?

My car has the non-intercooled LS1 vortech kit running 6Psi on a completely stock internal motor...

I want to up the boost, but looks like I will need to get some type of cooler to reduce the IAT before I go to any higher.

At first, I was going to just order the aftercooler setup from vortech and install it, then install the other pully and go 8-9Psi... The thing is, I'm worried that if I do this, it will be less effective and cost more than just doing some type of FMIC setup. I have also worried that the vortech aftercooler will not be suffecient if I ever want to go higher boost with a forged bottem end.

So basically I have two questions:

1) Will the vortech aftercooler be good for much more than the stock 8-9PSi?

2) Do any of you have any information on FMIC kits designed to work with a vortech S/C... or where I can get the components to possibly design/fab one up myself and then sell them

I'll throw out a couple suggestions. I'll sell you the aftercooler, reservoir, heat exchager + hoses and relay for $300 + shipping. The only thing missing is the water pump and the elbow piece between the throttle body and aftercooler. The FMIC does outperform the aftercooler. I have the 3" OBX. I would recommend the 4" version. I used off the shelf 3" tubes (45's, 90's and a 180) and ran the tubing down where the battery goes. You could either relocate the battery to the trunk or stuff a small Genysis type battery in there. I squeezed the PC-925 in there and it works great.

Wow that is nice... you certainly seem to have the setup I'm looking for

Do you have any more pics of the setup or routing under the fender?

I feel like a complete noob asking this, but do you have to trim the bumper & ditch the fog lights for these FMIC's to work correctly?

You could do a mount right in front of the air dam *cough* tiago *cough*, or something like the ATI dual mounts, except with one big IC or a pair of smaller ones.

I know there are people who have FMICs that kept their fogs. One of them may post up.

I need to update that Cardomain page. I did retain the foglights (the brackets have to be modified). I'll try to get some underneath shots.

alright thanks guys!

I'm also going to check on getting the parts that are missing and maybe just buying your old aftercooler setup too!

That is a STEAL and a half on the intercooler kit.

I paid around that for just the heat exchanger from Vortech.

I did not have to cut any sheet metal on the car. I had to get an aftermarket water reservoir. I hope I never need a jump start.
