Got a question concerning manifolds. It's a given that the LS6 manifold is a better manifold over the LS1, but........

Does the Vette' LS1 mainfold have an EGR or is the EGR-less LS6 manifold a direct swap on to the vette without becoming part of the non-emissions crowd??? Not that I'm concerned with emissions but it's something that was on my mind.

Second, the LS2 manifold. I've heard this being talked about as very similar to a Fast manifold (after the casting for the LS2 has been smoothed at least). Is this a direct bolt on also to the LS1?? I know it's meant for a 90mm TB, but would the stock vette TB (whatever size it is) bolt up to the LS2 manifold??

I'll try to throw in my $0.02. Funny you ask this question, I mistakingly received a vette ls1 intake, long story..., but it does not have EGR, FYI. From what I've read, the LS6 intake, also part of the long story, is probably the best choice for a stockish LS1 motor. I can't remember exactly, but it seems like the LS2 intake had some disadvantages as opposed to an LS6 intake on a stockish LS1 motor. As far as bolting on, the research that I've done says that any of those intakes, LS1, LS6, LS2 among others will bolt directly onto the LS1 because they are all "members" of the same motor "family", I guess is a good way to put it. However, I don't have any direct experience yet with trying to bolt any of them onto my LS1, so take that for what it's worth. There's a great book by Will Hantzel, I believe it's called How to Build High-Performance LS1/LS6 V8's. It's full of really good info if you're interested. I'm in the middle of reading it now.

I'm sure one of the more experienced members will chime in on this and correct me if I'm wrong. I hope you get the answers you're looking for. Good luck!

Cool, thanks guys. I was thinking of the LS2 intake as a primer for down the road work, but wil probably just go for the LS6 as for the forseeable future the car is most likely to be a bolt on only with the possibility of a cam swap.

On a LS1 engine, the Z06 intake is worth 5 HP after tuning. Find someone who can modify an 02 tune for the 99. The LS2 and 90 mm TB will be of no benefit unless you do Cubes or H/C package. On a 346 engine, the 99 intake is good for over 500 FWHP

The LS2 intake manifold sucks, regardless of it's larger diamater opening. Yes, the LS6 78mm is better then the stock LS2 90mm. There is dyno charts on this. See Katech.

I dyno'd my 99FRC after only swapping to an LS6 intake and picked up 9LBS,RWTQ and 7RWHP. Only other mod was a Blackwing. So its worth it in my book. I did not install the coolant bypass.
