Default To buy or not to buy

Well i'm only 17 and im not loaded but I have the opportunity to buy hooker longtube headers (ceramic coated) with y pipe, SLP dual-dual with cutout, all for 500. I can afford to buy it , I will just be a littel tight on money for a month or 2 , also how much would it cost to have a setup like this installed? Is it something I can do myself on a saturday or sunday? Let me know, thanks.

As long as you have the tools (Hammer, Breakerbar, Socket set, Ratcheting Wrenches are must have for header/manifold bolt removal/installation, Floor Jack/stands) you can do it in a weekend.

Be sure to have some friends over to help out though, it can be frustrating at times.

Start on saturday morning, and if it takes longer, then you still have Sunday. Give yourself enough time if it's a DD.

Where I live it costs about 450 to have long tubes installed at a reputable shop that works on LS1's all the time. Add another 150-200 for the Y-pipe and catback install. If you have the tools and the patience you can certainly do it yourself.

I'm all thumbs and would rather pay someone to do it as I'm too impatient. I can explain how to do almost anything to an LS1 but when I do it myself I normally fu*k something up.

Grab some friends and have a header install party, you can either spend $450 to have them installed or $50 on pizza and cold drinks, and you and your friends can install them
FWIW I did mine alone, I started Friday @6pm, quit at 9, went back at Sat at 10am, worked until 5pm, and was all done except for the dipstick, Sunday put in the dipstick (took 10 min), and was driving around that morning, listening to the roar

Sounds like a deal to me man. Id do it and try it with some friends as long as you have the tools and a little bit of basic car knowledge and know how to read the write ups of installing them you can do it. But like said above start either friday evening or saturday morning. Its alot of fun wrenching around on a car and hanging out bs'n about cars and girls and stuff.

$500 is a good price for the whole set-up. Hopefully you get the parts undamaged.
