Need Advise on Firebird FMIC
I need to pick intercooler for my setup. Cutting the bird out of the front bumper is out of questions, so it has to be installed horizontally. Green box its the opening that I have, where cold air passes thru. It is 6 wide. The rest poor airflow, but can fit up to 11 tall IC.
honda civic IC24x6x3 fits there perfect. the only problem that I have is that this IC has low CFM (even eBay rate them at 300hp MAX). I'm shooting for 550+ rwhp.
So, here are the 3 options that I have:
1.
It fits in opening, 100% of the core gets the air thru.

b) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/INTER...6777QQtcZphoto
2.
75% airflow thru the core. Note, there is the way for air to go around without cooling.

b) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/28-x7...hippingPayment
3.

now, I really like this one, it has 3 times more fins, high efficiency and this is the way to go according to the Corky Bell , the only problem here is that end tank takes 50% of the opening.. But there is no way air goes around without cooling.
What do you guys think?
Which style would be the most efficient?

Yes , thats the radiator opening.
it shouldnt couse heating issues , as radiator efficency(air to water) is way higher than IC(air to air).
Also it is 50" wide , so im not completly blocking it. any other options (besides ATI)?

Sometimes you can't have it both ways. Being that you are looking at 550 rwhp, the Procharger twin intercooler set up would work fine for you. This way you'll have ample cooling without cutting your bumper.

With my FMIC on my car even with the Procharger i would see a 20 degree rise in coolant temps with the cover on over with it off.over 200 degrees. and this was with it only about 80 out side at night.

Sounds to me like the ATI IC's R 4 U.

Not to hijack this thread but on topic with it, I have a 99 formula and I am going w/a truck mani setup very soon. Will cutting the squareliek area w/the firebird out be sufficient for airflow to the fmic?
