Default Hooker Lt's w/ Loudmouth

I just installed my LT's, hooker y-pipe and Loudmouth on Friday, and now my car sounds like ****. It's not too bad until I get to about 2500 rpm at half throttle or so and it makes this god awefull popping, sort of raspy sound. Anybody have the same setup? How do you like it? I think it's Waaaay too loud, especially at WOT. I got kicked off the track last night during the street legal drags because my car is so damn loud. Yeah, I made one run, and they booted me. If you have any cheap suggestions to quiet it down a notch, please let me know. Thanks

I just installed MACs with my Loudmouth (no cats), and I also have that god aweful RASP above 2300 RPMs. It is ridiculously loud. Too loud for me! And that's saying a lot!

I ordered a dynomax bullet muffler to replace the resonator on my Loudmouth. I ordered the longer one (18inches).

Item# = 289-24219
Description = Dynomax Magnum Race Bullet Mufflers
3'' In/Out, 18'' Long
Qty/Price = 1 at $36.99 = $36.99

Looks like a inexpensive solution. Should be welded on. I'll tell you how it turns out. Others said it would eliminate most of the rasp...

buy a bullit mufffler and weld it in the I-pipe.

or just buy a new cat-back with a muffler.

Whats up Nick? This is also Nick btw. I thought you had the loudmouth on when I ran you like 2 or 3 weeks ago. It didn't sound bad but it was a little poppy when the engine was calming down(hence you were in front ) . I would have to say it's your resonator. Just get rid of it and drop 7-800, on the corsa . JK. What did you run with the stall and LTs by the way? If you want just email me with the times. Mike has my add.

I had that exact same set up and it wasn't so bad after it got broke in. After about a month it didn't seem to pop as much as when it was new. Most of my friends loved it, but it got annoying to me having to listen to it everyday. I got pulled over one time in the 3 months that I had it and the cop just told me to try to keep it down and let me go.

My car is is the shop right now getting a Corsa cat back put on.

It sounded alright until the LT install. The stall helped ALOT. Holy crap. Hey, I'll just PM ya.

TaTommyWS6, thanks for the info. I think I might go that route. That's pretty cheap.[LIST]

I have the same exact setup, Jet Hot's, Hooker ORP and Loudmouth. It sounded like **** at first, but after I put a dynomax bullet pn# 24219... it sounds... like ****, it eliminated most of the rasp, but not close to all of it and it didn't cut down on the noise level at all, it drones pretty bad on the highway. Overall it's on of those things that all my friends like, but living with it is VERY HARD. I'm going true dual... not sure if it'll be much better... but we'll see.

How about leaving the resonator and puting two short Sweet Thunders just before the tips.

I have Hooker LT's ORY and LM...i HATE it unless it's at WOT. My friends nicknamed my Z the "dump truck" because of the way it sounds. Between 2200 and 2500 it sounds the worst...raspy and high pitched. At least it doesnt pop...but I'm gonna try out a Hooker catback soon.

I have Hooker LT's and ORY-pipe with a LM exhaust. It sounded pretty raspy with the stock resonator, so I welded in the 18" Bullet. Still very raspy but it did make the car sound better. The only problem is the drone on the HWY is almost unbearable I think I might just have to break down and buy one of those XR1 Borla mufflers that looks like a Bullet. They supposedly get rid of all the rasp. You might want to ask around about anyone who has one welded in on the same setup.

I just installed the jet hots with ORY and LM and it is way too loud. mine is raspy as heck and sounds like a machine gun with any moderate throttle. i ordered the American thunder catback by flowmaster today. also will be installing a power cutout from mccord as well.

I have Hooker LTs WITH Carsound cats in a custom Y-pipe, and a Loudmouth with the resonator removed and a Dynomax bullet muffler welded into place and I have a VERY small amount of rasp when the car is cold, but when its warmed up, it completely goes away.

It is still very loud, and there is still drone on the highway, but its nice and rumbly at idle, and like I said NO rasp. I am very happy with the sound. Heres a pic of my setup.
