There's a couple of websites dedicated to this swap and explains exactly what's needed etc. Theyre are also companies on ebay and on the net that sell everything needed as a kit persey. You can reuse the radiator and fuel system I believe.

if u reuse your fuel system u need a fuel rail from a 97-98 vette and there also a way to modify the harness so u can the older guages. i'm swaping mine out he shortly for an h/c ls6 in my 96 ss

quite a few doing this swap these days, EXCESSIVE is member here and has done it, he could give you some advice, think he come across a once in a lifetime engine deal though. It's all possible just comes at a hefty price.
I'd say save your $$ and stroke your LT1, or just buy an LS1 fbody and start over, but I'm partial to being an underdog LT1'er

precisely Brett! was in the same situation. my 383 lt1 lost its guts in my driveway. and at the time i was working for gm. got a complete 2004 ls6 for free. so i had to entertain the swap. however. if you got any questions feel free to pm me
