Crank pulley removal. Danger?

Crank pulley removal. Danger? Hey, I think I better take the car off jack-stands when I remove the crank bolt. The front is up and the back is on the ground, and I'm afraid I'll actually motivate the rear tires by turning the crank, it could knock it off the jack-stands, crushing old Shev. 
Too bad, I would've liked to get under there and use leg power to turn the breaker bar lol. I think I'm gonna need a hunka-pipe.

Old Shev got it off with an 18" breaker. It wasn't all that bad, but then again I am a strong **** 
I did'nt lower it, I stuck it in 4th and chalked the crap out of it, both in front and behind the rear tires. Don't try this at home!
One thing though. I am not comfortable using the old crank bolt partially treaded into the crank, in the process of pulling the balancer. There's too much slop! And I can't find any threaded rod or a longer bolt at Loews or Home Depot
I'll redirect my efforts to the heads for now.
Guage, nice idea with the jack.

i forgot to put the emergency brake one time(car was in gear) and as i was torquing down the crank bolt, as I cranked on the pulley bolt, the back tires moved real quick on the jackstands. i almost left a log in my draws

when i did my u/d pulley i put the 1/2" ratchet,socket on the bolt and stuck my hand on the ratchet and it turned.aparently we forgot to torque it when i did my cam install.how the bolt was still in there i don't know, i'm still amazed.

The easiest way is put the pulley in some very hot water. The heat will expand the pulley enough to start it easy. (just remember to hold it with some rags)
