Default Help me pick a new cam.

98 six speed Trans Am
I have Ported TB
Cut out pipe
ASP Underdrive pulley
Clear air lid with K&N filter
Throttle body Bypass
Free Egr Mod
Ram air hood including the air box
SLP 160 degree thermostat
Cags Skip Shift eliminator
8.5mm MSD spark plug cables
Mac midlength headers and off road y pipe
NITTO Drags
lingenfelter GT2-3 cam and Ls6 springs.

This is a good stealth cam and I heard it is even better with a supercharger but I only got 368 Hp to the rear wheels with a tune. I am looking for a srtreetable cam that will get me to 400 RWHP without having to upgrade the reatainers. I did some searches but didnt find any with my set up and like everyone says it is all about your particular set up.Thanks for any and all of your help it is very much appreciated.

Well, your setup is exhaust biased so I'd get a cam with more exhaust duration than intake duration, e.g. 231/237. As for an off the shelf cam, or even a custom cam, that would get you to 400rwhp, it won't be as easy as just throwing a bigger one in there and reaching that goal. You're gonna need some more work on the induction side, or a decent set of heads to reach 400+.

What heads do you suggest? I have been thinking about upgrading them because I upgraded the block to a 2000 block but I still have the 98 heads.

The best bang for the buck heads out there are the Dart 225's from Summit or the PRC ported LS6 heads from TSP. Those are the ones I'd go with, and either one should get you to 400rwhp with a cam upgrade as well.

Ok thanks this is great information. Ok one more question. With the TSP 231/237 will I need to upgrade the springs or not. I have read in a couple of places on the forums that TSP 231/237 is easy on the springs so it is good for longevity ut it doesnt mention if it is on dual or single springs.

I'm not sure what springs you have on there right now, but I would run Comp 918's with that cam.

you should wait for the TSP torquer v3 to be released, august i think thats when they will be out for sale, lsk lobe cams will make more power under the curve and this cam is designed to optimize dcr you will need to upgrade to prc dual .650 lift springs and you will hit over 400rwhp
Patriot st2 cnc ls6 heads are on sale $1,095 just a option
59cc stg2 cnc ls6 patriot heads +torquer v3 should pull 450wrhp with a fast 90/90 + a good tuner

lowbuck lethal combo

Or if he doesn't want to wait, the Thunder Racing Trak cam is the same thing that's been out for a while.
