OOC, what do you need to go into 1st at 30 mph or higher for? I know what you're talking about though, I can downshift into any gear with no problems until 1st; I have to be going like 15 mph or slower to do it. I just stopped downshifting into 1st altogether.

You shouldn't be downshifting to first at or above 30.

**** i was always told never to go BACK into 1st unless you're already stopped....no reason ever to have to downshift into first....you can take off in 2nd gear with out a problem in these cars.....

I can't put mine into first until it comes to a complete stop. I will be cruising up to a stop sign w/ it ready to go into first gear, as soon as my car completely stops it will slide forward into first.

=(

I thought the same thing for a while. Sometimes when you are almost to a stop it just doesn't seem to want to go, but I think if you really finesse it and wait for it to happen when you're below like 15 mph it should probably go. It's just not something that can be done on a moment's notice like other gears.

If i rev match mine, it will go into first at 30 no prob. It will also go into 2nd at just over 60 if i rev match it...these cars love that rpm range. 4800-6500 in my case

Ive never tried putting it in first at anything over 20, i think anything more and your just asking for trouble. Plus its not like you will have traction when you punch, mine spins like crazy at 20.

WOW you are asking alot of the syncronizer to get first at 30 LOL.
The only way if you must is like said above to rev-match it.

I always thought the same thing.

I've taken off in 3rd gear a few times when not paying attention. Gotta love that Pro 5.0...

hell i ds into 1st near 45 sometimes. IT's a nice effect. Idk how useful it is vs just going into 2nd though because after a split second you have to shift into 2nd and waste time over just going to 2nd first.

But yeah im confused why everyone's got an ls1 and saying not to go into it at 30. Its not good for regular everyday driving but it does have its purpose if someones trying to pass you and you don't want em to or something like that or if you have a loud exhaust and just to scare the crap outta people.

Try rev matching like it's already been mentioned. I don't do it for regular street use, but I do downshift into 1st at 30 mph when getting ready for a race. Just be sure to rev match and be ready to shift into 2nd quickly when you go WOT because it will sneak up on you. I have also downshifted into 2nd at 60 mph (again, rev matching and getting ready to race) without problems.

Double clutch it and it should go in fine. First at 30 is tough on a synchro, so it needs some help.
