I heard that it's bad to buy a used converter, but I guess as in with everything else, you have to check the condition of the item.

It's a gamble with any part especially if you can't see inside. I bought the same converter used and I have had it for 6 years with no problems. I've never had a tranny cooler either. Make sure its not coming out of a bad transmission and dump out the remaining tranny fluid when you get it to check for large metal shavings by running a magnet through. Make sure the fluid is red and not burnt. You could have it sent to Precision Industries and have them go through it if you can get the converter cheap enough to make it worth while. Shipping can't be cheap though.

There may be a shop in your town that is equipped to check it. I know there's one here that can, for instance.

I'm on my 2nd used converter. Started with a 2800 and decided it was too small for my cam so I bought a used PT4000. Used parts are fine so long as you take the proper precautions before you buy.

I wouldn't unless you know it's history. Been running my brothers used VIG 3200 out of his car for a few years now with no problems. Vigs stall higher, but 2800 is still too small IMO.

I have a 2800 and love it! Its just right for daily driving. If your going to buy a used one ship it back to Vigilante and have them take a look at it or have them restall it.

No you should buy the Vig 3200 that I have with less than 1K miles on it. I only took it out to get because it was too tight for me.
