Default Friend got a 2003 EVO...should I worry much?

He brought it by last night and I saw that he had an CAI Intake and an aftermarket boost gauge and didn't see any other obvious mods. He was talking about getting a boost controller but that's about it.

My mods are in sig and I'd most likely do a roll race on the highway with him from probably 60ish.

My roommate has a 95 T/A auto with a catback and wants to run my friend on the street from a dig.

So guys, how much of a problem is Mr. Evo going to give us?

you should have no problem beating him....

untill he adds just a couple more bolt ons, like full exhaust, and that boost controller, then he might creep up on you if your not careful

A tune is the key to any real power from those. W/o one he should stay under 350whp, or he is living on borrowed time.

Yeah he wont be much of a problem with just an intake. If he has a TBE, MBC and a good tune it might be another story though. Tune and TBE is good for 35+whp. Another thing to keep in mind is the '03 is the slowest of the Evo's stock.

Once he gets a tune, boost controller, and turbo back, you might want to add a few more things to your car. Evos are no joke, I don't care what anyone on here says about them from a roll or whatever. Modded, they are a force.

He's going to work over your roomy w/ the LT1, at least from a stop. From a roll without the boost controller they may be pretty close, but w/ the LT1 being an auto I figure he's going to get walked there as well. After the boost controller no shot at all for the near stock LT1 IMO...

Evo's don't get too mean until they are cammed and tuned. That's when I REALLY noticed a difference in mine. Also watch out for race gas, they love the high Octane..;-P

It depends on who you ask, but I think you got some good somments from some honest evo owners here. Most evo owners think their car will pull anything, especially if they have a short throw and a K&N.

Its a fast car, but mod for mod, youll be faster.

Agreed.
LT1 needs some more bolt ons, but the race might be closer than some would think.
