I''ve ran the mobile for a while. From what I've read the K&N is also another great filter to use. Check out bobstheoilguy.com. Tons of great info there. I've been running the K&N #2006 for a few years. It's the longer truck filter. It also has a nut made into the bottom of the filter, so it's a sinch to change.
The K&N is similiar to the Napa gold or wix. I do believe they go into bypass mode sooner as well, while flowing more oil. So your engine doesn't starve for oil when running wot.

The M1 filter has thicker sheet metal, you can't dimple the side with your grip
(I have dimpled a few AC Delco by squeezing in my hand).
I cut mine open and spread out the filter material, it's about twice as long.
The threaded flange is much thicker, with more turns of thread.
The drainback valve is better and better located.
The o-ring/gasket is very thick and securely embedded.
The M1 weighs more than most other filters.
It is very well made.
