Default What is the smallest enclosed trailer for a 4th Gen?

Like the title says... What is the smallest enclosed trailer for a 4th Gen? I am planning on getting an enclosed trailer this winter, but don't want a monster trailer

I just bought a 20" Hallmark Thrifty Hauler and it works great. With the car just inches inside the rear gate there is about 3.5" of space in front. Plenty of room for some track stuff.
What I was really surprised about is that it's fully finished inside with lights and a vent for a very reasonable price.

That's the type I am thinking of getting... about 3500lbs, so it will be under 7000lbs with my car in it... is there enough room in front to strap down the car? How do tie down the car in front and back.... how bout getting in and out of the car??

I have a 28" enclosed and at times it feels too small by the time all the tools, fuel and things are loaded.

I am pulling with a Dodge Ram 1500 with a Hemi... If I had a diesel truck I would get a bigger trailer... I am using my buddies trailer this season and the combined weight is ~8000lbs, this is the limit of the truck... I want the lightest combo possible... 9mpg and the Hemi gets a real workout with my current setup

02 Silver Z: Is that a gas Chevy?

How much does the 28" weight alone?

I don't see any problem towing that trailer with a 1500 gas truck as long as...
a) there is no car in the trailer
or
b) you are going downhill

honestly, that's got to be at least a 4000lbs trailer alone... I

Is your Hemi a 4x4 or 2x4? With the 1500 series trucks, the 4x4 suspension really helps out when towing enclosed (or heavy) trailers. The suspension will not sag as much on 4x4 and it will be more stable when towing. We went from a 1500 Sierra (5.3L 4L60E 3.73s) 2x4 and an open 16' trailer to a 1500HD 4x4 (6.0L 4L80E 3.73s) 4x4 and an enclosed 24' trailer. With our new setup, it is more stable and our 2x4 would not have been able to tow as nice as the 1500HD (2500 frame) does. Our combine weight is about 11,500 with everything packed in. Personally I would not recommend towing an enclosed trailer without a 4x4 at the very least.

I have an 05 Hemi Sport 4X4 quad cab... I am currently pulling my buddies enclosed trailer with my car and a golf cart in it (I think it's a 24 or maybe a 28 footer)... about 8500lbs... plus so stuff in the bed... the truck is solid, but when climbing hills the Hemi feels like it's really running out of steam... not to mention the gas mileage just plain sucks

or atleast a 2WD with a HD suspension or HD towing package.

a 2WD duramax w/ the HD Suspension/towing package is gonna tow the same as the 4x4 model

which is why in brochures you'll see the 2WD tow rating higher than the 4x4.

A local guy here has a 22' model. He has a small work bench, and a small 4 wheeler riding in front of his '95 Camaro. He pulls it with a gasoline Ford Explorer. Seems to do fine.

I have a 06 Hemi 1500 2wd megacab which is based on the 2500 chassis.

This hemis have the power waaaay up, a guy told me not to fear 5000rpms low gearing climbs, its normal for the engine...

we will see, so far my current trailor (open) with car is about 43xx pounds, but I fell in love with a 28Ft... as soon as i can afford it i will take it, gas mileage can go to hell

Search racingjunk.com, there are tons out there but the most common enclosed is by far a 24'. You can get some great deals at the end of the season on trailers new or used. I found a smokin' deal on mine last winter on RJ. I personally think you might as well get a 24' if you're going enclosed. It's just not that much more money or weight to justify not. The biggest problem with either a 20' or 24' is the wind drag, it's like towing a big parachute! I pulled mine for a SHORT time with my old '95 Z71 Chevy that had the vortec 350 and tow package. Towed fine for short distances and on open flat stretches. Otherwise it was struggling and got terrible mileage. I have an '05 duramax now and wish I'd have bought a 28'-er. LOL. If you go <60miles to/from the track go for the 24', if you plan on going on road trips across country stick with an open or plan on a new truck (3/4 ton and bigger motor or diesel).
