Default Good or Bad

We'll I just found out that my car has 3:73's and I wasn't sure if this is a good thing. With the mods in my sig would it be better for me to be running a taller gear? Right now i'm running the 60-1 but i'm gonna be running the a 70 trim.

So, why do you think you have 3.73's? Are you compairing your tach to the speedo? Most tachs are a 1-200 rpm high when compaired to the Computer...

The guy I bought the car off thinks their 3:73. If the spedo is correct and i'm at 19000 rpm's at 80mph would that indicate 3:42's or 3:73's?

I figure that with 19,000rpm, and a 26" tire, you have right around 34.2 gears in that thing!! or at 1900 in 6th gear (figured at .54 OD which I think is the 6th gear ratio) you have 3.42's. Guess it could be different if you have a taller tire, eitehr way. here's the link I used. It would be real easy using your speed and rpm in 4th gear (that's 1:1) then there's no other figuring to do.

And if it were me, I'd prefer 3.42 (had 3.73 and just had to shift too quick).

Later,
Dave
