Default Oil pressure

Tried searching but it wasnt working
I just recently got my car back on the road after sitting for 6 weeks
was low on oil so i got some 10w 30 put 3 quarts in but once the car warms up idle oil pressure is a nick over 20 and anything about 2500 is 40 i know its a little low but is it dangerous to drive with it that low

Technically you need 10 psi per 1k rpm, so 40 psi at 2500 isn't bad, but it certainly isn't stellar. I would check into an aftermarket oil pump and possibly some thicker oil. What brand oil are you running?

40 psi at 2500 isn't bad.seems like mine had 45 or maybe alittle over with 5-30 castrol synthetic but as arctic said, anything over 10 psi per 1,000 rpms will work.

Does seem a little low IMO. Sometimes you have to be better safe than sorry.

My stats: Idle -- 45 psi ; WOT -- ~70 psi

So, if you had to put in 3 quarts, you only had 2.5 qts of oil in the motor?

What was your oil pressure in the past, before it sat for 6 weeks?

It's a thicker oil. The 0w-30 german blend acts like a 40 weight.
