it will fit nicely after hundreds of dollars of fabrication, or after a louisville slugger

well we do own a body shop and if it is not oo much work im sure we can make it possible...which area exactly run into problems...
if it was self explanatory then i wouldnt ask...thanks for being an *** anyways.
im sure i might run into some issues by the headlights but my main concern is the latch location as well as the hinges...if i can get the back to sit flush and the hood to latch it shouldnt be too difficult to mod it to look original...any help would be appreciated

it just wont look right.....

im beginning to think that the top of the lights may cause some clearance issues...possibly have to cut some webbing...ima call a few people tomorrow see if i can get ahold of a dinged up hood to do some test fitments and get a positive answer or at least a clue as to what to do...i reallly wanna make this work and i think its gonna look bad *** when i do...i like the scoop on the newer hoods better but those bubbles are killing me

what does that have to do with my question?
not to be a dick but people seldom respond with pertinent information...always trying to tell me what to do with my car..lol if i wanted a cowl hood i would buy one....i personally dont like the way they look on f bods and would never get one....

all im looking for is someone who has done this conversion before or possibly tried to and what problems( if any) they have run into...
thanks

Hi.
The hoods are different for the 93-97 and the 98 and newer camaro's. The nose and fenders are also different, to use the earlier model hood, you would need to convert your car back to the earlier model.

thanks jeanie...i got a quick question for you...does the hood bolt into the stock hinges and latch in the same location?
if i could get it seated properly it will be easy to mark off where i need to mod it...one of the body guys at the shop can work wonders with fiberglass...thanks

it could work, but it would take a lot of money and time for the fabrication, actually it would be better to just make a whole new hood out of fiberglass with the design of the 93-97 hoods. hmm, I wonder what that would look like, because the 1998-2002 Z28 hoods are just plain boring, I like 1993-1997 Z28 hoods better....someone should do a photoshop of what it would look like

yeah it might be easier to order a hood like that...but i enjoy the challenge of making something work that normally wouldnt....not really concerned about the time involved...ill be doing this on my freetime anyways...
well i have a 00 ss and want to go with a 96 ss hood...not a z...
but like i was saying if the bolts and the latch line up to factory locations it should be fairly easy to do the mod work...im capable of doing all the cuts and shaping but would require the body guy to do the fiberglass...im sure i could do it if i tried but id rather have a pro do it on my car and learn on sum scrap pieces at the job...

Well sorry for sounding like an *** but i just gave an answer for the Q you asked. Its pretty obvious that it would not fit because the front ends and fenders are totally different and im sure you know this. You didnt say anything about wanting to fabricate it in order to work in your original post...

If I were to go about doing it myself, I would just do some fiberglass work/bondo over the humps to make it look flatter and sleeker. If you start with a 93-97 style hood you are gonna have to do alot to make it fit and look right.
