99% throttle
so i was using a snap-on modis to scan my car and the TPS voltage is fine, but when i put the pedal to the floor, the computer only reads that the throttle is 99% open. i dont know much about this kinda stuff and maybe it doesnt matter maybe it does, i dont know thats why im asking. any ideas?

Actually, I had a similar question for a guy that tunes my LT1 car all of the time. He said something about if the TPS reading is over a certian voltage then the computer throws a check engine code? I'm sure that the 99% thing would be along the same lines, so if it physically went more than 100%, it would probly do the same thing? I don't know for sure, but it sounded good...

Yea, I was thinking waaaay too technical.
Actually, anyone heard about the recall on 03-04 cobras? The carpet up under the dash on the drivers side was too long from the factory and was causing the gas pedal to get hung on the floor? My buddy heard this horror story and cut the hell out of his carpet around the pedals.

the thing is, when the computer reads 100% throttle, it goes from closed loop to PE mode (power enrichment mode) which takes the base fuel trims and then the computer uses a power enrichment table to add fuel to this baseline for the best performance. my concern is, i know my car is alot faster in open-loop than it is closed loop for whatever reason (probably bad sensor readings causing the air/fuel mixture to change) and if my computer only reads 99% throttle- that still isnt full throttle which would then remain in closed loop and not change to PE mode, which im thinking COULD be hurting me quite a bit. once again, i am not sure so any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I forget the exact number but I know it is lower than 70%.

I know the thread is a few days old now, but while I was tinkering more with my tune (93 ECM, not in the care like 94+) and just went into the EGR ON (TPS). Which the max TPS% is 99.61. So really there isn't a 100% TPS mode, since the computer uses odd divisors for settings. I think it divides by 8, but not sure. Hope that helps some.
