goodness. an FI 408? the 4L60E is DEFINITELY out, i don't care who builds it. you have two options:

1.) 4L80E
2.) TH400

i'm not even going to mention a powerglide as it's pointless to get one of them over a TH400 IMO.

if you plan on daily driving the car, though i'm sure it would be quite the chore, get a 4L80E. if it's just going to be a track beast, most people will tell you a TH400. the 4L80E's a heavy piece of equipment so that is what keeps a lot of people away from it.

IMO, i'd personally want to get a 4L80E because you can run a steeper gear ratio thanks to the overdrive it possesses. it's heavy, but when you're running 700rwhp, does the extra 40 lbs or whatever really matter?

While its true a 408 is pushing the limits of the 4l60e I beleive our invincible series 4l60e is up to the task
check it out on our website ,
However if you dont think a 4l60e can handle it though I disagree i would consider the 4l80e

i hear that the 4L60 is a good paperwieght... get a turbo tranny and dont waist your money on the 60 just to build it up again in a year.

Well at least in our case if he eats it in a year we will be building it up again on our dime ,
4L60E get a bad rap because there are so many people selling crap and claiming its BUILT. Stock trans with shift kits cheap parts and little know how. These are capable transmissions I have seen heavy cars impalas running the with dynoed rear wheel hp well in excess of 700rwhp DD and doing well.I just hate that so many people have gotten inferior built units in the past tore them up then then that gave the whole trans a bad name, And as it always is the people who's trans are out there taking the pounding don't say a word because thats human nature we don't get on the high horse and make proclamation everything is great. So you don't here the good stories but they are out there more than bad ,

"Best" setup?

What will you be doing with it?

TH400 or a TOP of the line 4L60E if you will drive it on the street a lot and don't want it revving a bunch.

I'd go TH400

performabuilt: I know your grammar and spelling do not reflect the quality if your companies work or parts, but you certainly aren't selling yourself very well with posts like that....just something I would work on in an attempt to be more professional.

A properly built 4l60e will do the trick. Confused by the comments. Do not go by what you heard, go with what you have experienced.

this is true. i notice that a lot on product reviews. when people get a bad product, they feel the need to make it known to everyone. when they have a success story, they don't feel the need to do the same.

Im not really sure what I want to go with a turbo or a supercharger not sure yet ? But I do want it to be- not a daily driver -but be able to go cruise every once in awhile. Mainly a beast on the track......!
