Default HP tuners help please!!!

So I got my 408 in and the P/P heads. I ordered the Hptuners software and in need of some help to tune the car. I am new to the hptuners software and any help yall could give me would be awesome. The cam in a 238/242 605/610 112lsa. The heads are the stock heads that flow 305.7 @.600. Right now I have a SES light for the code PO332, which I believe is a knock sensor issue. Can someone please help me with the tune?

first make sure you've deleted any misc codes, then start with the small stuff, fan temp turn on/off points, tq management I believe theres only engine TM on 98's so determine what you want to do with that...you can then adjust the displacement of the engine you now have...then work on your idle properties target idle speed, base airflow, etc, once you have that dialed in you can move on to spark & fueling.

With that much more motor, and asking the questions you are, you really should take it to a professional tuner. That's a big chunk of tuning you're asking for without understanding.

The car had already been tuned for a tr224 cam and all the boltons. The car runs as it is right now, it just keep throwing the po332 code. It idles fine and everything. I think it might be running just a little rich though. I dont have the software in front of me so idont know. I will be able to check all that friday night. Has nobody tune a similar tune on their car?

first thing first before you play with anything idle related. turn off all of the idle air correction factors and adders set them to 0.0000. They will play havoc with you becuase the logic is kinda flawed in that pcm. the 97/98 pcms have differing idle logic and they can be a pita. Set the injectors size ( if you havn't modified your maf or are using the SLP recalibrated maf ) make sure the MAf table is correct. Put the ECM in open loop meaning crank up the closed loop enable table vs IAT to 255c

start with spark make sure the fuel injector size is right and hopefully this info will get you idling. Don't worry to much about idling at 14.7 its a wasted effort with that camshaft. I figure from other vehicles with similar displacement your gonna end up between 16.7 and 17.2 at idle and low engine speed like up to 1500 or so tapering back to say 15.5 :1 till 2000rpm and over 2000rpm figure 15.0-14.7. thats a bit more overlap then i usually recomend to people with a ton more advance. It may look even leaner. either way use your ears and the plugs to figure out the optimal AFR to idle and part throttle unless you have acess to a 5 gas.

Just kill the 02's all together. Its most likely silly rich with AF correction enabled.

Also p0332 is Knock sensor rear.

I agree with most of this post actually except the car idling at 16.2-17.2 at idle. HOLLY COW that is way to lean even with a bunch of overlap.
