Default Z06 clutch good enough?

bought my car a few weeks ago and right befor i bought it the guy had swapped the stock cluth for a C5 Z06 clutch...but im not sure how long it will hold (right now it has less than 1500 miles on it)

BTW, im putting down 450+ RWHP 420+ RWTQ and the bottle will be goin on it shortly

IF the Z06 isn't gonna hold what clutch do i need to be lookin into?...my performance guy said id need atleast a spec 3 but is this really overkill?

No a Spec 3 wouldn't be over kill. Not so sure how the LS6 clutch is going to last...

I have a LS6 clutch in my car and I am putting down 410/380 and I killed the clutch on a 6k dump with ET streets on them at the track.

I am going with a Cartek clutch.

i killed my z06 clutch fairly easily, with the kind of power you're putting down and plan on adding i would go with something better.

i'm putting down 375 rwhp and my LS6 clutch would hold with Nittos and 3500 RPM launches, but wouldn't hold MTs at 5000

depending on how much nitrous you'll be shooting you may need something alittle stronger than a Spec 3.

The Z06 clutch is only rated for 405 hp, and they hate nitrous. I personally can tell you that mine worked good on muscle, I went 11.40 w/ the clutch, sprayed it a few times and it is now fried. If you want to do it once and do it right, go with the exo-skel its about $1250.00 and it will take anything you can throw at it

I agree! LS6 clutch hates anything above 400hp. A buddy of mine is pushing about 430hp in his Z06, anytime he mashes on it, the clutch pedal is stuck to the floor. he also changes his clutch fluid regularly.

Invest in clutch if you have the money. at 450hp u will get more out of your cars performance with an upgraded clutch.
