The retainers that come with a 921 spring kit from Comp Cams use stock GM locks (keepers) ..you can get a single retainer, spring, or spring seat from Comp...Give Comp Cams a call .. your local GM dealer should have the locks in stock..50 cents a piece..

Was it the valve or the keeper that failed or a combination of the two??

lmao you guys crack me up... they are the old style patriot valves they had the huge recall on... gunnar is taking care of me as far as some killer pricing on new ferrea's those guys have their stuff together and customer service is amazing!

what happened is the valve is made out of shitty material... it started to "mushroom" a while ago (about 1500 miles ago) and i didnt have the time or money to fix it. so i just havent really drivin the car much and was just waiting for some down time and cash flow to fix it.. well checked stuff out and saw that yesterday.

the rocker has completely worn the tip off the valve. it has also begun wearing into the retainer and into the lock. if it would have worn just a TINY bit more it would have broken the lip off the valve and that bitch would have sucked a valve and things would have gotten MESSY..

I have no idea. My heads are at Patriot. I took them to work to ship them and the mechanic said told me 4 of the exhaust guides failed. I spoke to Gunnar to weeks ago and they are replacing all of the valves and guides. He is also ccing them and milling them some more for me. As for the amount of power they make I have been pleased. I have a friend with the exact same mods as me (even the cam) only he has AFR 205s and a lighter car. I am consitantly .03 and 2mph quicker. I pull him every time from a roll or a dig. Let the bashing begain

yeah but youre only talking peak numbers, did you look at under curve power in those other setups?

did you look at under the curve power on my graph? lol it was very comparable to the AFR numbers.. it was actualyl top end where they take off.. they hold strong over 6k where mine start to fall off... when in all actuality im betting thats intake manifold issues and not heads.

Im not talking dyno numbers at all. Im talking a car with the exact same mods racing from a roll and a dig that I pull every single time. The only dif is the heads

Yeah it sure did make good power down low too, I just looked again, you need to let it breathe more to make up that power up top. The power is there, it needs to breathe better.
