Default EFI Live VIN# reprogramming

I've had .V2 for a couple months and have just been scanning (so no reflashing) has taken place. One thing I noticed was that the PCM VIN# doesn't match the car's Vin#. I read in the tutorial that the PCM VIN# can be reflashed.

I just need a sanity check to ensure I don't waste an EFILive license by reprogramming the PCM VIN. When I go to the license manager it still shows that I have 2 available licenses (keep in mind I have not flashed anything, I've just registered the handheld, downloaded the existing tune from the car and have scanned). I want to reflash the PCM with the correct VIN#. How does EFILive handle the change in VIN#. Any help/pointers is much appreciated.

Correct, EFILive does not use a license until you use the tune tool to reflash the PCM.

Is changing the VIN# considered a "flashing" process? I don't want to change the VIN#, thus using a license, and then later when I want to do a tuning flash have to use my second license because EFILive recognizes it as a new pcm due to the new VIN#..

Changing the VIN will not consume a license.

What about finding your VIN #? I have a transplant from a 2002 Z in my '69. The guy wrote the VIN # in pencil on a piece of masking tape on the computer and the 1st five or so numbers are illegible. I went to set up my EFILIVE and that's kind of hard to do without a VIN #. Any way to retreive it? I sent it off to Speartech to have the wiring harness and computer modified to my application. Would they be able to help? I kind if need this in a hurry.

Thanks for replying so fast. I just shot you an e-mail. I just looked at the VIN again and what i can make out starts with a G50... so coupled with the 1st 5 #'s all i'm missing is the next 2. So now it reads like this: 2G1FP__G5221505E0. Am i missing numbers or letters? I hope it's #'s. A lot less to guess.

2G1FP__G5221505E0

__ is 22 (coupe) or 32 (convertible)

1505E0 -> The E must be a decimal digit, like 8.

Also even IF it did take a license you wouldn't have to re-license it again when you wanted to tune your vehicle. But like stated above use the scan tool to change the VIN and you will be good to go

You can also download the tune from the PCM to retrieve it's stored VIN.
