Default 402 w maggie or 440 w/ LS7 - Build Options

I would like for those of you that are "smarter" on the motor side of things to give me the pros and cons of each.

The car will be used for some daily driving - more of a "run to the store every now and then, car shows, and chasing babes" car.

Currently I have a CTS-V LS6 w/ maggie,cam,headers.

Please also keep in mind that $$$$ isn't growing on trees at my house so please offer the most "bank-for-the-buck" options yet quality of course.

I'm not looking to pull mid 10's at the track in this car. I just want a mean *** Caddy. (meanier than Chef's that is).

I've seen and heard great things about the 440 option - I just havent seen any prices!

Thanks to all.

whatever you decide remember your diff might as well be made of glass so you might just want to keep your current combination and get one of the upgraded cast iorn diffs with some gears and call it a day for a while.....whats the point of power if you can't put it down to the ground...... no you don't have to hook to destroy the case wheel hop will kill it too.

If your looking for big CI and bang for the buck you cant beat the 402 ls2 stroker, but also keep in mind the L92 strokers as well and even the GMPP and warhawk blocks as they will be able to give you big CI options too. If you go 440+ CI you will be dumping the maggie correct?

Oh yeah I would lose the maggie.

I would like around 550rwhp/500rwtq on a 11cr motor.

The warhawk block still hasnt been released yet but looks like it is going to be badass. In addition, the L92 setup looks pretty stout as well:

Plus you can even just go with an ls7 crate engine (although more expensive than most other options), toss in a mild cam, LT's, and some tuning and see over 500 rwhp as quite a few c6 z06 members have done.

so keep it street tame you are definatly going to have to go with a 440, you could do it with a 408 but your going to need a good size cam and a bit more compression no to mention some AFR, RHS, or ET heads

thats why i think the 440ci should get me where I want to be. I can always throw a 50-100 shot at it.

Take a look at this thread https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamometer-results-comparisons/483089-441-na-results-inside.html

That puts you right where you want to be, just wait for the new blocks to come out

I would think A&A Corvette or the owner of the car would be the only ones who could answer that effectively.

No such thing as a budget 440ci ls7 , the shortblock is prob $6,000-$8,000 alone.
